@swift07I would have assumed that every single competitive multiplayer game out there had a quitting problem, with or without a recovery mechanic. Everyone I ever played did.
The rationale I stated for having the mechanic in the first place is a paraphrase from the developer from early days. As often happens, I'm sure they have a stated reason for public benefit, but ulterior motives they don't speak about, so no one is wrong here.
But I have to add that "people want 2nd chances and don't want to be out of the game" doesn't really jibe with the reality of persistent quitting. At least SOME people would rather take their second chance in the form of a new match. And honestly it feels to me like a kick in the teeth to get someone out of the game only to have them dropped right back into it again. If the game keeps giving people crutches then what incentive do they have to get smarter?
