Curiosity question about (apparently) hacked account

First off, just want to state that it is NOT my account, and I do not know yet, if she has been banned. If she is, we'll just play a different game. I'm just curious as to how it happens.

One of my longtime friends has been mostly offline for the last 2 years, and occasionally on CoD. I have played Apex with her back in year 1, but she hasn't logged on to Apex in 2+ years. She hit me up yesterday to let me know she'll be back online in the near future, and I couldn't remember how much she had played back before she went AWOL. When I clicked "Inspect" and pulled up her stats, it shows she has like 17k+ kills, 4k badge and all the fixins on Lifeline, when she only played a small amount back in the early days. My first thought was that her account has been hacked in the 2+ years she's been inactive. I'm just wondering how someone would have been able to use her account, without her GT even being online? She still hasn't gotten her new internet installed, so I don't know if it's a visual bug, or if she really did get hacked, and I won't know until she actually goes to get back on. I was just thinking about it, and have been trying to figure out how they could use her Xbox Apex account, without her Xbox account even being online.

Again, I'm not complaining about a ban (don't know if she's actually even banned), and it is not my account. I'm just curious how the account could have been hacked and played on, without the associated GT even being online. I am online every day, and I only see her online every now and then, playing some CoD with her brother. I haven't seen her GT on Apex in years, Lol

  • @dSKyNafinchin Could be hacked, but with bight stats like that, and no ban for cheating, most likely your friend hired a booster to make them look better. If your friend said they would be online, they most likely have been monitoring their account and don’t believe anything is wrong. Said booster could be online in a different time zone, meaning you would never see them online, as you would be asleep. If you are on Xbox, and it shows that they haven’t been on in years, that means that they changed their settings so that they always appear offline. To me this seems like a case of boosting, but try casually asking your friend.
  • @dSKyNafinchin I'd guess someone got into their account. Others have had this happen. They could have showed offline on purpose.

If your friend is banned they can try EA help to see if they can get it unbanned. I believe there is a way to see IPs where your account was accessed. The issue tho will be the length of time.

@BigMacAttack8uShe hasn't gotten her new internet installed yet, so I don't even know if her account has been banned or not. I'm just curious as to how the stats could have been accrued, when she wasn't on Apex. She's been a close friend for 10+ years, and I know she hasn't boosted or anything like that. She's been focused on her career, so I only see her online every now and then (not set to show offline). She just hasn't been on Apex, specifically, in 2+ years.

I'm mostly trying to figure out how the stats accrue, in the case of a (potentially) compromised account. If someone was playing on her account, with enough grinding to accumulate 17k+ kills, I would have noticed, since I am online every day for most of the evening and into the wee hours. I'm guessing the stats were never even technically "earned", and were just altered digitally or something? I just feel like if her Xbox account was used to boost/accumulate all those kills, I would have seen her online on Apex a lot. Plus, she's periodically been on CoD and a couple other games over those 2 years, so I know her Xbox account isn't compromised. It seems to just be Apex/EA.

My curiosity may be for nothing, since I won't know if she's even banned, until she finally gets online to play. Just wanted to see if anyone knows how the stats get there, without any playtime

@hayhor  Yea, if her account actually is banned when she tries to get on, I'll have her appeal it and whatnot, but given the circumstances and time table, I'm not expecting an appeal to go anywhere. For an Xbox account, if someone hacks into it, can they play on that account using a different GT? My first thought was that it was hacked and played "offline", but that's a LOT of kills and playtime, and I see her on Netflix/Amazon most evenings, so I'm guessing the stats were merely computer-generated.
