Favorite legend, weapon and weapon combos in season 2?

Hey everyone,

I was curious about what everyone felt have been some of the best changes in season 2.

I recently decided to write on Apex Legends and have a few different detailed articles. The first is a look at Weapon Rankings, the second is on strong Weapon Combos, and the third ranks all of the Legends. Take a look and let me know what you think!

I feel like all too often articles on each of these topics for any game can be lacking. Sometimes they touch on just some high-level ideas where I wanted to be a bit more specific and call out more rationale as to why a gun, legend or gun combo was ranking where it was.

All feedback is welcome and I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on the meta as it is today.

I love playing all the legends but lean a bit more towards Bloodhound or Mirage in casual simply because their Tacts are fun to use for me along with their Ults as they do not require much team work to pull off successfully.

My favorite overall gun is the R-99 because of the insane speed it fires at and how good it feels to mow someone down and than quickly reload for to get their teammates.

I always try to run a sub with a sniper, preferably one that has the same ammo as the sub i carry. Ex: an R-99 x G7 or Prowler x Longbow.

    Ranked -

Ranked is a different setting as most already know. I enjoy being more laid back and calm about every situation. So I always pick Wattson to hold down areas so long as someone picks Wraith. Wattsons ability to hold down or block pathways is so crucial, more so if you can stack two fences together to stall enemies longer. Her Ult provides free shields and cover which is pretty useful towards end game to deal with nade spams or quick burst fires.

In ranked I also try to pick up different weapons. I'll still always carry an R-99 or Prowler but for a second gun, I try to go for Eva-8 for that spread or a Pistol (R-45, P2020) given the hop-up it needs, they are very reliable when you want to finish off an armor-less enemy and make sure they stay dead.

  • @Mittensdeath I main Bangalore, and sometimes I use Wattson or Octane. My weapon combos have been a mix of Havoc, Hemlock, Flatline, Prowler/Selectfire, Mastiff, and Longbow DMR.

@Wingmannedbrotrue, most pro teams are running Pathfinder+Wattson+Wraith or Lifeline.

But I still think Pathfinder and Wattson are in a division above, seeing what they have compared to Wraith (a team could still do decent with out a Wraith, but without a Pathfinder/Wattson Its more or less impossible).

I think what you're missing is Wraiths Q and ultimate ability to immune damage making her a must have for the final ring fight.

Dunno if you saw Xgames, but literally every team had wraith, but not every team had wattson. According to pro's wraith is S tier.

  • I mainly play Bangalore, PF, and Bloodhound.

    Weapon combos:

Main weapon-R-99 or alternator with hop up

Secondary- Longbow or Wingman. Lately been trying out the G7 Scout.

I used to sometimes use a peacekeeper as secondary, but with the ammo nerf it just isn't worth taking up that many inventory slots with the ammo.

@Wingmannedbro  no I missed it, I think TSM won. What comp did NRG run? Yeah you are probably correct about Wraith.

NRG also ran Path Wraith Wattson, Cloud 9 had a lifeline, and some other team had a caustic.

Other than that it was path wraith wattson all the way.

We're enjoying a combination of Bangalore, Bloodhound, and Caustic. If you get in a great spot you can toss the smoke out to help out Bloodhound and Caustic. With Bangalore you'll want the R-99 and Peacekeeper for the digital sights. If Bloodhound and Caustic can also run with Peacekeepers or EVA 8's with lvl 3 shotgun bolts it can be a nasty combo when a squad tries to push you.
