Another question because I see some disagreement over this in quite a few comment sections on the internet.To me, I think the game is geared towards aggressive play, and placement is a reward for surviving while actively engaging in gun fights and eliminating teams. Most abilities compliments this. The movement speed compliments this. All of the game's trailers show it as well. We have badges that reward high kills and high damage. Survival can be manipulated, at least in pubs, hence why I consider it a meaningless statistic on it's own.What are your opinions on the "correct" way to play Apex?

@Unitee01 For fun, apex should be played for fun. The play style can be anything, but it should be a care free environment where there isn't a certain play style perceived as “correct” and ideally everyone is having a good time. Start the match by saying hi in mics or in the chat. Just simply saying hi makes for a much more friendly environment, and makes playing the game more fun for everyone. Just to recap, the game is for fun, not to try to say that there is one specific correct play style.

Yes you can play how you want to but if you want to win it is generally around active plays either by quick rotations to have better placements or killing squads. The more you want to win, the more restricted on how you want to play because it’s directed by the current meta like you have to have a Seer and a Valk in your team. But for the general audience/players, do what you want to do.On a personal level, my friends and I play aggressively. If we see you playing very cautiously by hiding or just sniping, you’re getting aped immediately. Apex feels the best when it’s fast paced. Can’t really hide in this game anymore because of the scan meta.

@reconzero Umm, I don't think we are really at odds here. It seems like you think what I mean by aggressive is to just run up to everything and start shooting? That's not what I mean at all. You can still be smart at what fights you take and how you fight, like using cover for instance. And there are times when engagement is not the best play, like when you have bad positioning.I've had teammates who want to hide on top of some roof somewhere instead of participating. Half the match is basically just sitting there and then when the fights come our way they pretty much die instantly. I believe that is because they avoid fights instead of talking them thereby never actually getting better at the game. I would rather have 5 kills and die than wait 15 min, kill nothing or maybe 1-2 players and win, it just does not feel satisfying.Anyhow,"Unless their less aggressive buddies have higher win rates."Well, like I said to someone else earlier, passive play can and will only get you so far. @reconzero So you're basically saying you are worried that if you play differently or improve the mm will ruin the game for you because you'll get harder lobbies? Theoretically that should already be the case if you've been playing this long. Either way, both scenarios sound kinda equally bad for me tbh :/ What's the point of playing if you're only interested in getting easy wins the easy way in the easy lobbies? The pride or enjoyment you speak of is gained by beating the odds which aren't in your favor, that's the point, at least for me anyway. I played very passively back in season 3 but it eventually just made the game feel dead to me and it always bothered me to know I couldn't really take fights head on. And if you think about it all the game really is is a series of 1v1's, in a way. But hey, I'm not here to judge you or tell you what to do or how to play, it's not really the point of the discussion. It's just my perspective. You do you 🙂

@BigMacAttack8u This is the obvious answer, but as we all know, whenever pvp is a thing, things change. I wish my matches were so chill as you describe. But there is a definite discrepancy among players as to what is better or on how to get your wins. Good answer though bruv 🙂

@Unitee01Aggressive as a 3 stack, situational otherwise. Probably becomes situational all the time at Masters/Pred, but I'll never see that for myself. I'll just watch it on Twitch.

I personally can't win 1v3's, so I'm only aggressively pushing when I've got help and know we have an advantage.

@hayhorOk, that's cool and all, but it's still a PVP game. The question is; what do you think the best approach is to succeed or rather intended way? Active or passive?

@Cheese9Man Hard agree that you need a Valk or a scan character, and playing aggressively, passive play can only get you so far.

@Unitee01 Some of the less than average players on this forum will definitely disagree with my take but in my lobbies you just can’t play passively anymore. The current state of apex is filled by just 2 types of legends, a mobility and a scan legend which will wreck any passive team. I play as Gibby but generally play aggressively with my premade squad.

@Unitee01As bigmac mentioned, apex is a game and should be played for fun, unfortunately it's a very competitive game, and it seems like a majority of the players I come across care more about the competitive aspect than actually trying to make sure their team as a whole has an enjoyable gaming experience.
It should also be played as a team game as the game was actually made to be, but so many people have the opinion of play as you want, and that combined with apex being a br game, just doesn't bode well for the team play aspect.
All in all, Apex is a game and it's hard to define what exactly would be the correct way to go about doing it, this are just ways I feel would make it a more enjoyable game.
