how hard can it be?

how hard can stopping cheating be?

write a script to track people's mov speed and aim and ban anyone who has unrealistic movements/ aiming pattern.

it should literally take 2 hours

I'm not sure how hard it is to catch cheats. I think you do have to be incredibly smart to create and develop an anti-cheat. Though I'm sure every honest gamer out there appreciates the efforts and sacrifices that the anti-cheat developers make in order to bring us a cheat-free game.

The recent announcement that 355,000 cheats were banned in Apex Legends in the first few weeks is testament to the skill and prowess of the anti-cheat developers.

I for one, and I'm sure there are countless others, offer them my thanks. :eahigh_file:

i suggest you read what i wrote again, because everything you wrote is in the opposite spectrum of what i said.

by speed i don't mean aiming speed, i mean moving speed. there are cheats that make you go in the speed of light. movement cheats are the easiest to counter.

the anti aimbot cheat works this way:
    1. user's pc gives information about where the enemies are located(that eliminates lag) and where the cursor is pointing.
    2. the server checks the location of the cursor relative to the enemy. if the cursor is found to aim at the EXACT same spot, no matter how far/near the enemy is, having a reaction time close to 0, and keeping that aim while the enemy is moving, congrats, you have detected an aimbot

That means absolutely nothing. WarZ, a game which you had to pay for, was banning 2000 accounts manually a day, and the anit cheat was banning another 100-500 daily. When FairFight would update it's database, they would have ban waves in the 100,000's of accounts, and that still did nothing, in a game you needed to pay for.

WarZ, was one of the few games where they Employed staff to manually spectate and ban cheaters, and they still never got it under control. Personally knowing AirRhino and Kewk, I can confirm WarZ at least tried to do something. however short of having 15 people manually viewing and banning, which only made a small dent in a game you needed to pay for, EA is doing the bare minimum to even try and handle this issue.

  • Its actually not that hard to implement something like that. Its called sanity check , and it works on the networking model they use(which is the WORST btw).
Since the server has no authority in this game, they can implement a sanity check method , that runs on the client. Basically what it does is this function will check other players speed, cooldowns , ability usages ,etc, and if the cheater is doing some weird stuff, the sanity check function on the other non cheating players, will notice ,and take action accordingly.

There are some limitations here too, but still, it can help A LOT if they do it.
