I was banned for using n word as a black person

About 6 months ago I woke up to a ban on my 2 year old account (linked with my console) and when I read the email I realized it was because I used the n word in chat with my friend in the lobby. This was because my mic was broken at the time so i had to text to him instead of talking and the game auto detected and banned me for it. I’ve tried to appeal countless times expressing that I as an African american person was not using the word in a hateful manner like i was banned for but rather to address my friend because the black community has since reclaimed the word and given it a more positive and unifying meaning. Some of messages  were angry but who doesn't get a little heated sometimes when playing a game and competing in something you’re passionate about. I realize my mistake on that part but a perm ban for a word that I didnt use in a discriminatory way when that was the sole reason for the ban just doesn’t sit right with me but no matter how many times i appeal I can never have an actual customer service conversation with an employee. I get the same robotic response every time im really frustrated I feel like im at my witts end with this. I just want to speak to someone to get my side of the situation heard and understood. Prior to that ban i had never been suspended for saying the n word because i don’t frequently type that in conversation it was the one time i didnt use my headset mic bc i it was broken.

    Hey all, if you have a ban on your account then you will need to speak to our Terms of Service team.

    The process to contact our ToS team can be found here: https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/account/information-about-banned-or-suspended-accounts/

    1. Click Contact us at the top of any page on EA Help.
    2. Select the game that your account was banned or suspended from. If it’s on your whole EA Account, choose Origin.
    3. Choose your platform.
    4. Select Manage my account, then Banned or suspended account.
    5. Fill out any other details below.
      • For example, if you picked Origin, it might ask you if you are accessing the game through an Origin Access membership.
    6. Click Select contact option.
    7. Sign in to your account that has the ban or suspension, if you aren’t already.

    These kind of conversations don't have a place here on AHQ so going to lock this.

    @Cxnfzd I personally don't care how you pronounce it or spell it, I still find it offensive to our race. I know you kids think it is cool to say to each other, but it is not. I do not and will not report people for saying it. I stand behind, sticks and stones will break my bones, and back in my youth had many a bruise to prove it. Why don't we start by showing ourselves respect.

    I wasn't aware that only one particular c o l o r "owned" a particular word, and only they could use it, in whatever capacity they see fit. Wow, that's a new one.
    Chalk one up for the morality police.
    Personally, I get offended by people being offended at the people who were offended at me being offended that they were offended.
    Nuf said.

    If I were to say that I am going to substitute the word ''Apples" for the very word in question, and every time I said apples, you knew exactly what I was referring to, just how long do you think it would be before the word "apples" became a bannable word, and we would have to find a new name for that particular fruit ?

    Its ridiculous, that words have now become more powerful then bullets, and that people are so petty and victimized by all that surrounds them, that when they BREATHE, they have to find some sort of reason to find something wrong in that !


    Be civil, treat each other with mutual respect instead of belittling and trashing each other under the disguise of trying to be funny.
    Its pretty simple.
    Im sure this whole post will be removed lol.

    @Cxnfzd No one should be using that word, unfortunately there's nothing you can do at this point. I'd recommend starting a new account and monitor your language. Or just play with mute on like myself.

    Maybe it was among the bannable words. The fact you're black might be irrelevant as far as the game is concerned. I don't know how it's even supposed to know that, so it will probably ban anyone that uses it, no matter what.

    Oh and yeah, customer service can be frustrating at times, since I had that experience elsewhere. The responses can look like they were written by a bot without fully understanding the issue. I can totally feel you on that. I hope you can get your account back soon. 

    @Wargasmatron I wish I could give you 1000 XP. I am getting sick of this american colorist thing. Or people being offended over basically nothing. This is not directed at OP, to be clear.
