@Axs5626Sxa5001 Yeah, Arenas matchmaking doesn't feel like it exists most of the time. I've never played ranked before, but I'm level 497 and I've been playing off and on since the day Apex was released.
But I get paired with and against level 3's who are genuinely new to the game a lot. It's hard when you get paired with a genuinely new player who isn't great - and I feel awful when I'm put against a genuinely new player and I just absolutely melt them the instant they pop up, for the easiest wins of my life. It's not fun for anyone involved.
There's always 300ish players in queue for Arenas, at least according to the counter they show, so I don't see why newer players couldn't be allowed to pair against each other so they get a more fair fight.

- 5 years ago@Nightstick24 I mean look, if matchmaking were random, then this would happen occasionally. But new players are INTENTIONALLY being put in a compromised scenario. That’s wrong.

@Nightstick24And mind you, I hate SBMM. I don’t want stricter SBMM that results in everyone winning the same.
But new players are the ONLY players that deserve special treatment. They need a safe space to learn. Im absolutely ok with experienced average players occasionally playing stronger players; but new players are different- E9ine_AC5 years agoHero+@Axs5626Sxa5001 That is very odd. 100 games having a level 5 or lower seems it would be a 1 in a million chance of this happening. I play a lot of arena mode solo and in 100 games id estimate i have had maybe 15-20 games with a level 10 or below at that.

I believe solo queueing in Arenas is different than duo queueing. On the occasions where I solo queue, the teammates are far more varied. The algorithm is probably designed to try and “balance” the teams as best as possible (utilizing a hidden ELO).
Nevertheless I assure you that I actually got 100 sub-level 5 players. We saw the same players a few times, so it wasn’t 100 separate new players.

@Axs5626Sxa5001 Also, that solution sound super sus. Wouldn't that make there be a huge smurfing problem? You're talking about forcing new accounts to exclusively play against each other. Wouldn't guarantee smurfs playing against scrubs.
