"The starting Ranked tier and division is now based on your hidden skill value from previous Ranked seasons"
" A player’s skill and their RP value can be very misaligned and are moving more towards getting and keeping those values much closer."
https://www.ea.com/games/apex-legends/apex-legends/news/prodigy-patch-notes
But hey, didnt RP have a loose correlation to your skill as mentioned back in Dec 2024 ?
"In response, we linked RP and skill, and we are now using RP for matchmaking. There is a loose correlation between actual skill (as measured in MMR) and a player’s RP value."
As a result i get mates 10 times in a row , doing 0 dmg ... but hey they have the same Rank/Skill whatever ... NOT!.
So how can a RP values be very misaligned if the Skill and RP are linked as stated in the December MatchMaking Update ?
By dealing some of the players more "winable" matches than others ?
And wouldnt a misaligned RP value in previous Matchmaking also lead to a wrongly build hidden MMR, since the Player was placed in the wrong bracket due to the misaligned RP resulting in either a better MMR due to more "winable" matches or a bad MMR bcs one got dealt so many "unwinable" matches?
The system would not need so many "adjustments" over 25 seasons, if it would work as advertised.
Its always the same with Respawn.
"For us, good matchmaking means putting you in a squad with players of a similar skill, in a lobby with squads within your skill range, where everyone has a shot to come out on top. You may win some, you may lose some, but it is a system that should provide a variety of outcomes with each encounter."
Yea, thats sound like good matchmaking, doesnt it ?
But why isnt this the case ?
If it would work like that , Matches in e.g. in Gold Division would not feel too much "appart" from each other, but similar in difficulty, which is def. not the case.
Dont question the RP and Matchmaking, its simply rigged.
And after all those MM tweaking they are still not able to form a 3 player team, something we never experienced in the good old Apex back when people had nothing else to complain about but pricey skins and the occasional rubber-banding servers.
