@i-Norm
I seldom think about anything other than the people I'm teamed with. What experience has shown me is that no amount of concern will help them make good decisions and I'm not interested in dying for the vanity of foolish or impatient players. I'm capable of being a good squadmate, but it's a two-way street. If they can't meet me half way then I would still normally stay in the match until they're both dead.
But lately, as Respawn attempts to engineer whatever they think is the desired play-style, I now have a lot more variables to take into account when making a decision on the viability of a match. If I know a match is over, or at least has moved beyond the point where a reasonable expenditure of effort and dignity can yield a worthwhile result, then what? I'm still supposed to hang around because my squadmates are not experienced enough to know it's over until they're lying dead on the ground? I'm tired of always being the witness to atrocities. I'm self-possessed enough to call my own shots. That may be more pragmatic than admirable, but there's nothing to be gained by trying to be the poster child for good sportsmanship. Most everyone else seems to agree, if their actions are anything to go by.
@hayhorActually yes you are meant to hang around until the bitter end. That's why its called a team. No disrespect, because I do agree with somethings you said. But it must be really cool to be judge and jury over who is worthy and not to play with you. You must be a spectacularly good player.
- HappyHourSumwur2 years agoSeasoned Ace@i-Norm I have no sense of team or loyalty with my randoms in pubs. They might as well be NPC's 99% of the time so I'm quitting to lobby when it is a lost cause.
If I'm in a premade party playing with people I know, I'll stick around. - r1ggedgame2 years agoSeasoned Ace
@i-NormThere are quite some people that play the game since ages. Not spectacularly good ones, but good enough to know how Apex is to be played. Those players get annoyed pretty fast if they get presented with teammates that literally dont know which legend to choose, which loadout works for them, not to give up the position only bcs the teammates ping enemies, not to take unnecessary fights, not to waste time to loot all day, or in general play the "touch grass" game.
Others might add to this list, but i guess you get the idea.
Its like in any other teamgame, you cant just mix different skills.
Im a mediocre player and when even i get called "Faye","Hal","cracked" (you name it) by my random teammates bcs i pulled their respawn while taking out full teams by myself, it shows that a mediocre Apex player is worlds apart from an Apex newb.
The burden of carry is exhausting, especially if you have to do it all the time.
The problem is with the assembly of teams and as long as this issue isnt fixed ... we have to deal with the issue ourselves. - reconzero2 years agoSeasoned Ace@i-Norm
Gonna assume that was meant for me... @hayhor was mostly agreeing with you.
Respectfully disagree about the whole "team" thing. A team is what you have when you're TSM or whoever. When you queue as a solo you don't get a team. You get two players out of 59 who are not shooting at you. If you're lucky.
And no, I'm not spectacularly good. That's why I can't just follow any random squadmate down into his hot drop pit of self-destruction. If I was a masters-level player then sure. I'd run around all day long saving people from their own inexperience and ineptitude. Smug and condescending, sure, if you say so. But how many matches do I have to put in before I stop wanting to make all the same mistakes over and over again for the benefit of people who are just starting out? 10,000? 20,000? 30,000? That is how matchmaking works in this game after all. One experienced player + one who started three seasons ago + one who started yesterday. I'm sorry I'm not good enough of a person or player to be everyone's hand-holder for the rest of eternity. Not what I signed up for. I'll ping smart moves and beyond that they're on their own. If there's more that I can do that doesn't involve suicide then I haven't figured out yet what that would be.- PsyhiX692 years agoSeasoned Ace
I will definitely leave when I see this as champion squad:
