Playing 6 hours of bronze to get 0 point grind

How does that even makes sense? I am a very experienced player that played daily since day 0 of Apex, I used to get platinum 2,, 1 before. But now I can play 6 hours of rank solo and not even grind a point! Not all of us like to sit in front of their controller doing nothing waiting for rings to close just to hide somewhere else.

This is really crazy that the game has come to this. I say rank should be the exact opposite; individual skill rewards to get you to a higher rank if you actually contribute to killing players.

Imagine for those that have less skills than me , they are really hating this rank system it means they lose points every night playing BRONZE!. This is ridiculous.

  • As a solo queuer, I agree 100%. The game is still geared too much around three-stacks. Don't say 'find a team' as I don't like talking to people online and I have no gaming friends, being in my 50s.

Had a game yesterday that was the perfect example. I wasn't the DM but we didn't even hot drop. We just ended up with two other squads and my randoms were dead within 20 secs. So, off I ran with my white shield and P2020.

Then it was 15 minutes of hiding as no one had picked a support legend. I eventually got found my accident by a Rev and that was that. 'We' finished 8th - 10 whole points.

Somehow I've made it to Silver 1 (usually get to Plat) but its been hideous at times.

  • Exactly the issue I mentioned in the other chain.

This means there are a whole lot of soloQ players that should be in higher ranks now struggling to get out of Rookie/Bronze.

Surprisingly I managed to get to Silver last evening. And the now the games are very good quality again. Like a day and night. Getting kills with good randoms who make sensible plays.
    Which is just stupid.

One thing I did to get out of bronze was I played a legend that I never play and the matchmaking apparently saw that as me being the weak one and gave me decent teammates. I was struggling for more than a week to brake silver with my mains. Try it out and let me know if it works for you.

  • I've been stuck on 500 LP in Silver I for about a week. Apparently lots of good players can't even get out of Bronze.

Had one win yesterday but it was wholly down to the ring as we just fortunately chose to rotate onto high ground as that's where the ring pushed us. While everyone battled below us I (Fuse) just naded and KCed them and picked them off with my 30:30.

@EdwardDLuffy Yeah it is because they are fighting and the MM is putting them against 3 stacks and people at high levels. I died to a current masters in rookie in a game.
  • It’s a pretty big issue because ranked games are created using the hidden MMR, not rank.

I think I have plateaued as it pertains to skill. I practiced with the intention of improving and am probably a low-level Masters (previous Masters, not this new Masters lol).

I have never been good enough to make Pred, and thats ok. Historically I struggle against better Masters and Preds— the top 4%.

But because the MMR knows I’m this level of skill, it’s still lumping me in the top “MMR bucket”, despite being in Silver 4.

So the same level of “stuckness” that I was before (trying my best to beat preds), is the same level of “stuckness” in Silver lobbies.

Meanwhile, my friends who never broke into Plat are currently working towards Diamond (because they are competing against other lower MMR players)

So to speak to your point— yes the system isn’t terribly good right now. Oddly enough, I didn’t even dislike the previous ranked systems.
