Rampart is good but not good enough, when will they buff her passive and Shiela?

TL:DR at the bottom

Rampart's been slowing working her way up to being a good legend. she was underpowered when she first released which made her a joke character. i can't tell you how many times i been trashed on for using a "dead weight" legend in season 6 and 7. she's gotten buffs during those seasons which slowly made her better sure, but they were small and she was still "garbage" according to 90% of the community.

It was around season 8 where she got enough buff to where she was actually a decent off meta pick if you wanted to play a different playstyle. also people like gaming merch giving us rampart mains a platform helped her be seen as a good legend when used correctly. since she hasn't changed much, it makes me wonder why they haven't touched her passive and barely touched her ult.

They did a good job with slowly buffing her walls ( just a couple of hp buffs a way from being good) and they did buff her ult which made it much better than it was in season 6 but it's still has too many drawbacks than positives. As for why they haven't touched her passive 3 seasons later is a mystery because holding more bullets and faster reloads on lmg's isn't enough. give her more for her passive.

Are they scared to make defensive legends decent in this game where mobility legends rule the meta? do they secretly not care about her? do they not like rampart as a character or don't know how to balance her properly? will they ever consider the feedback and many ideas on what to add to her kit?

I just want rampart mains to be respected while having a legend that can be considered a meta legend (at least b tier)

TL:DR: I'm not sure why the devs are too "scared" to buff rampart? she released as a joke character and wasn't considered "decent" until season 8 when they buffed her enough. that being said, she needs a lot more to her passive, a bigger hp buff to her walls, and a couple of tweaks to her ult to be considered at least a "B tier legend."

  • She's in a good spot now. Legend doesn't need to be absolutely dominant to be called  "balanced".

The whole "deployable Gatling gun" thing was a bad character design in the first place. Now, that's it so heavily tight into the lore they can't even completely redesign/remove it. Maybe they will make the Gatling gun AI  controlled with poor accuracy in the future just to spot/distract enemies (kinda like Torbjorn turret in overwatch)

  • I feel like ramparts fundamental flaw is the way other players interact with her, chiefly in solo queues.

You can set up the perfect spot , defensible, clear lines of sight perfectly situated cover, ring advantage....you name it. It'll just go to waste because your team can't stay still for more than 12 seconds lol.

that's true especially in ranked. soloing to diamond with her on kc was miserable because of my random teammates wanting to play like it's pubs or them not wanting to play tactically. whenever something like that happens, they always would say that it's "my fault" or that "rampart mains are trash" for having a slower/tactical playstyle which hurts her value and reputation even more. i'm not saying she's in a bad spot. she's WAY better than she was in season 6. that being said, she needs more to her passive than just being able to use 3 guns. adding a perk to her passive that doesn't rely on rng would be a great start.

@MandatoryIDtag She is decent if your team will play into her strengths. It’s the same with Wattson and even Caustic.

I won’t try and push a camped defensive legend unless there is a legend on our team to counter it.

I love playing as Wattson, but it’s extremely frustrating when my teammates leave areas I’ve fortified. We get into a fight i throw down ult, they push forward instead of wait for the enemy to push us. Similar stuff happens with caustic and ramp.
  • @DarthValtrexExactly, its always been my main criticism with static legends.  Caustic used to be the exception to the rule as he was more versatile but respawn did a mighty fine job of ruining him lol.

Undoubtedly they're strong legends when you have a cooperative team. You just rarely find that queueing solo.

@Lord_Scorpion34 If they buff those walls much more it will be really OP for the people who play into her strength. It's really difficult to deal with a good ramp team who have walls up unless you have an octane or a way to flush them out. I tend to just rotate around ramps who are already set up, unless they are playing exceptionally bad.

@DarthValtrex I guess I haven't run into this lol. I just feel like the amp part is too weak cuz soon as it gets setup squads are breaking it. And going against her just seems easy to break them down & rush if you have good positioning.

@Lord_Scorpion34 Yeah, if someone is trying to set it up mid fight I'll destroy it before it's built. But if they already have it set up and it's a good ramp she can be difficult to push.

I've had a handful of good ramps on my team and it was amazing.
