I can just repeat myself:

In Apex, some might call me "a veteran" since I joined the game in S1. I don´t really care about titles to be honest but I want to adress one thing:

I´ve had bad days...I´ve had good and I´ve also had very good days in Apex Legends. I fed my Youtube-channel with videos on a weekly base and I´ve always felt more like hunter than the prey.

But: With the start of S20, something in Apex has changed.
Lots of smurfs...lots of server-crashes...I´m playing like a madman but my K/D is dropping like it never has before.

I went from 1.18 KD to a 2.85 KD over the years. Then, suddenly, it started to drop. No idea why.

S22 is the worst saison so far. I´m around ~1 K/D but nothing has changed:
I know the maps, I know the movement, I can aim...but they keep killing me instantly or out of impossible angles.

They´re not even moving properly, no wall-jumps, no slides etc. Just running and shooting - and they hit!!

I think they implemented bots without us noticing.

I'm already giving up. I was counting on some good reset in the new split. The new split has barely started and neither duos nor trios are unplayable. Players with 20 bombs and 4000 damage badges kill me all the time. I've had enough of this. Regards.

My shots largely miss the opponent's body at all, and the opponent always hits me. Very interesting.

This game isn't a serious competitive game, don't take it too seriously. Respawn and EA certainly don't. 20 tick servers are a complete joke for "competitive" play. Then on top of that, they designed the game to balance out high ping players with low, to try and make it "fair".

It's a fun game, but it has a massive cheater problem. Even with the state they banned all these cheaters, it's F2P, and those cheaters are back within minutes. The anti-cheat needs to be automated to some extent to be effective, otherwise you can't keep up.

These companies rather make as much money as possible rather then give us the best version of their game.

@W3stminst3r Not everything is cheating you know.  You seem pretty obsessed wiht the topic.  Although it could be said I am somewhat obsessed with matchmaking so there you go.

Towards the end of the season it's the same for me.  Insta death every single encounter.  Casuals stop playing so you just get matched over and over against people above your pay grade.  Match making is broken in that scenario; there simply isn't enough casuals to match us up against one another or we get distributed amongst players far above us (if that's the case... why?).  I think not playing end-season is probably the best solution.  It seems lots of others take time off once they finish the BP or whatever.  Every end of battle pass is the same; game is unplayable for us casuals.  You are just a KD pill.

Yeah, just now.  Death recap.  3k badge, no data, no data, no data.  I didn't drop a shot... but them... mostly head shots.  Of course it is.   seems legit.  

I'ts not cheating.  It's poor match making.  This guy should never be in my lobby.  But, wiped again.  I exist as a KD pill for others.  That's it.

I laugh at people who boast about their massive KD.  Congratulations on being put in lobbies with people far worse than you. You are so tough.  Well done.

Yup, there are alot of 4 K badges and 20 bomb badges earned from decimating the weak. I'm sure regardless, many of them are quite proud of their accomplishment.

Rather old problem , reported by me in April 2021 (started earlier but i had to gather some data).
Never being addressed by Respawn.
Always being wrote off as a client problem.
Now it amplifies ... very unlikely it being a client problem at all.
When i look at the timeline, it could be a Crossplay related issue.
Would make sense why they didnt touch that topic at all, since its another sacred cow they dont wanna sacrifice.

What can I say, my dear ladies and gentlemen.

We are probably slowly approaching a critical moment when the average number of players will drop below 100,000 people for the first time since the premiere. Is it possible to reverse this process at all with the current game policy of EA/Respawn? I don't think so, but maybe you have a different opinion? Let me know

@AymCTLI still think this is just due to the time in the season. People finish their BP and take a break before the next chapter and I get that, that's reasonable. The hard core element remains and you just get thrown in with them and that's the way it is. I think the numbers just work against us. In all honesty I'm not really sure what can be done about that.

Can't say I've played with anyone famous but I probably wouldn't know either as I don't pay attention to streamers or "Pros" (the names you mention mean nothing to me).

I've played a few games in the new "season" yesterday and i found match making to be much better as (I would guess) the casuals are back and the pool of players to pick from is larger.  

Does anyone know of where you can see published numbers on activity on apex? Does it typically go down toward the end of a BP as I suspect?

Despite the criticism here I think Respawn has done an excellent job on keeping things fresh by adding new features all the time. The new loot bin system, changes to legends, new map, different modes. You can't say you are not spoiled for choice. The value of these things are subjective of course but it's appreciated and I've found it keeps things fresh.  There are many positives here too.  But the game has to be playable at the end of the day.

Let me not comment on the statement, just look at the numbers.

It is logical that if there are huge drops on one platform, it is no better on others.

@RockDokRock I don't know where these numbers come from, but if you can trust it at all, it means one thing - there is a huge problem on PC.

Within a few days, I remember the nicknames of people I played with, because they either join my team or kill me. This means that there are a lot of repeat people in my lobby.

Maybe it's different on consoles, but PC is suffering a lot at the moment. PC is totally infected with cheaters

So I have been thinking about this a lot, because netcode is something I am deeply interested in.

If the Server is the exclusive authority to adjudicate damage, then a Client (Console, PC) could not cheat in any way to tell it that a single shot was adequate (unless we are talking Kraber head shot...).

If the Client is able to actually convince the Server that one shot did like 400 damage, say, then the netcode isn't the issue, the dev team is.

But it is more likely that the netcode in its attempts to "catch up", so it compressed shots together (since the Server gets data with a different time stamp and must smooth out the events in shorter time span). If that is the case, the report should not show just one shot, but how ever many would be necessary. That is different from you "hearing" a single shot.

@RockDokRock, I can't understand the attraction to FortNite. It is like playing Mario Brothers. How is it number one played game?

PC is brutal right now.

Matchmaking and cheaters have been issues since I started in S8 but I think S20 wa the real turning point.

I have little faith in Respawn turning it around either.  They core issues of matchmaking, cheaters, smurfs, server performance, and audio have remained unchanged for years while they do things like rework the achievements menu and fail to add QOL features that have been asked for forever.  At this point they'll just pump out modes, skins, and legends until people stop paying for them.  It's honestly amazing to me that anyone is still spending money on Apex coins given the state of the game,  but I guess lots of people have more money than sense.
