Re: How Ranked Leagues Will Work in Season 2 of Apex Legends
@MrZwitz wrote:When will you realize that Apex Legends never has been, nor ever will be, about winning. 99% of players immediately push to the nearest gunshots as soon as they're heard, and it's not because we're worried about our placement!
Winning is the icing on top of the cake, but it's not the cake. It's not the chicken dinner, is the sauce we dip it in.
Isn't the object of the game to be the last squad standing though, not team deathmatch?
You're going to likely see premades in higher ranks because communication and strategy will be even more crucial in advancing up elite ranks. If you're able to random up to the higher ranks you're very skilled, but it's only going to get you so far. If you're concerned about going up against premades, I'm sure our "Find a Squad" boards are going to get real busy soon with ranked matchmaking. Friend up with others on the forums, there's a lot of familiar faces here too. 🙂
I can see the concerns around camping, but if you're not able to deliver the kills at the end when it matters you're going to have a ceiling on points.
The players that climb ranks the fastest will have a good combination of both kills and top finishes.
Don't worry though! The team will make adjustments when necessary like they stated below, so keep that feedback coming throughout the season:
We’ll be watching matchmaking data constantly and making updates on the fly. This should help us answer questions like how long players should wait for a match with only players in their own tier, how large the gap between ranks represented in a match should be, etc. We will be providing updates as and when this happens through our usual communication channels (Reddit / Twitter).
I don't know about you all, but we've seen a lot of chatter in the forums around adding Ranked matchmaking and it's finally upon us. We're super jazzed up on this and can't wait to dive into some matches with you tomorrow. Stock up on those drinks and snacks tonight. 🙂
Good luck!
