Jaybiebs though not the person in charge of rank (he’s the legend/weapon balance guy), is asking for some suggestions or comments about rank and gold knockdown shields.I guess the knockdown shield issue can be seen more in higher ranks since the final circle has a minimum of 4+ teams and sometimes the knocked person stays alive longer and wins because of this. Though I’m against doing anything at all with the gold knockdown shield, a good suggestion I found on twitter is that the gold shield should only work if not all 3 players are down. Thoughts?

So...that this is considered a big deal issue shows how wrong Respawn's head is at.If you're a game company and don't know who pays your bills, and you hand off your game design input to a small group of people who like a certain thing, but it ticks off the greater mass of people who pay your bills, you're going to get what happened to Overwatch. Basically, Respawn, right now, is kissing the rear end of it's pro-players and streamers. What they are advising and complaining about is not bad for them, but it's at least questionable if it is good for the masses who play the game. A going theory is that if you listen to the people who seem to 'know most' about your game, the game is better for everyone. But Pro players and streamers do not necessarily give input that is good for everyone. Gold shields are a sort of dumb, but fun, game add for us casual mobs. Just like big Kraber damage and a lot of other things. It was already nerfed into taking so long as to be pretty useless, but I can tell you right now, NEAR NOBODY cares about this question in regular play. Nobody's career is getting broken, or even making a few dollars less because Gold shields 'won' a match. Probably, you know, there's a core game problem that's bigger, that results in gold shields being a problem, but nah, let's talk about Gold Shields like they are ruining this game.Respawn has its head straight up where the sun don't shine right now, and that this is topical shows that. I do not care, nor will I ever care, about gold shields, other than they are a good time....every like 100 games. Streamers and pros need games like Apex, Apex does not need to cater to this small, albeit sometimes entertaining, group of people. They will live, and learn to live with, what they already have been, and they will adjust or be gone. It's not going to be an issue, there will always be pros and streamers if your game is good enough. But if Respawn keeps throwing its input into things that make this game less fun for the majority who play it, they won't have money or pros or streamers. I'm not saying the issue is the ranked system, or nerfing gold shields, or krabers specifically. But I am saying that any issue, if it is spoiling it for the mass of players, is going to cost Respawn what they value most - regular players and money.And if you think that gameplay was Respawns concern over money when they made this game, hehheh, I have a bridge to sell you.

@warslag I've had lots of people stay downed or boxed as I battle a team and then after winning and starting the revive or getting the banner and heading towards a beacon they leave. I'm convinced some people would rather their teammates die to make themselves feel better. I've had people quit mid revive and mid respawn.

Warslags onto something there I think. If the self rev was single use but the knockdown shield refreshed hp on each knock that'd be awesome. Literally wouldn't need knockdown shields in the loot pool anymore.

Players should able to revive themselves from the start.
Players should always be able to recover their own banners. A drone could automatically be despatched to any type of respawn beacon. The proximity of the player to a respawn beacon would add a duration to the recovery of their banner.
Too many players leave matches or give up when they're downed or dead etc. I wonder if a greater prospect of being revived or recovered might alter the effects of hot drops and lone wolves and all the other types of terminal behaviour that can spoil games for teammates?

I fully agree the gold knockdown shield should remain in the game.. it's an item that adds to the luck/chance/skill balance which makes apex enjoyable and slightly unpredictable for both casual and pro players. It's easy enough to just thirst or finisher someone with a gold knockdown to take them out I think the whole drama over this has just come from little * who take the game too seriously.. it's for fun before anything and the gold k/d adds to the thrill of a fluke win in the 1 in 10 time you actually manage to crack off the self res successfully and walk away. If respawn really feel the need to amend this then why not make it a care package/lifeline package only item rather than having it on the ground to find. It just seems this argument (just like the one over the arc star) is generated by people who want to change the rules to help them win money and don't want to leave anything to chance at the detrimentof the peoplejust there enjoying themselves... you wouldn't go to a casino and ask to look at the cards before you play poker or ask them to change the size of the slots on the roulette wheel.. and if you play football you can't change the size of the goal so why should the argument have any traction I don't know. Such it up buttercup is my general gist 😅

@Cheese9Man The other thing people could do is actually fight and not give end game gold shields the chance to win the game due to the storm.

@hayhor I think a good change could be this:
- if you have a gold kd and a gold backpack you don't get the extra hp benefits from the second one.
- you bleed out faster (15-20% time faster maybe?), so you're forced to revive yourself faster instead of crawling miles away.

@Cro_Pittt I don't think that fixes the issue tho? The issue isn't during the game. I think the issue is when the final zone completely closes and everyone is down and the zone kills you as the gold knockdown wins.
