I am not sure what you mean. Would pubs just be a warm up for you? Why would it matter if an enemy would use a gun or the other in a warm up?I think i kinda see your point. Would you rather have a single game mode and that would be ranked? I would agree with you on it.
- @Vdstrk
Yeah I used to play pubs as practice before I completely gave up with rank. The thing about meta is it's affected by a lot of things. Lets say that they put Mastiff and PK in the carepackage. This would mean they'll take out 2 guns and add it back to ground loot and those 2 guns can change the meta. And if the meta in pubs is different to ranked then most of your practice in pubs would be meaningless as you'll be used to pubs meta not ranked meta.
I don't think people would like to have ranked mode as a single mode now as some people like to chill and have fun and that might not sit well with people who want to tryhard.
- @Vdstrk Nah the prowler was not OP before the move to the care package. Lots and lots of people still preferred the r99 to it. And remember the care package prowler is not what would be on the floor. Now we have the volt to compete too. It would be awesome to have all 3 as options.
- @Daze623 Agree. There cant be a difference from pubs to ranked. Pubs is where people try stuff and have fun. Ranked is where you really see what is meta because at some point the try hards will all gravitate to what they feel is strongest.

I guess it makes sense if I remind myself that Apex is just a casual game. I automatically think of it as a skill based game, but obviously it is not. Has it ever been skill based?
Sure, I can see that happening. I just think that PK is a bit too strong, as the mastiff, to be part of the general loot.
- @Vdstrk Mastif is garbage tier now. Before the nerf it used to be decent. PK is balanced I think. Eva-8 is still the king. You should never pick a mastif now over eva-8 or PK. Between PK and eva-8, it depends which one you like more. The way the shotguns are done in this game is overall pretty bad. How I would do it is give them consistent dmg rather then pellet dmg and make them really strong 0-10 meters as in 2-4 shots to kill, but really bad damge as the distance increases to the point they do no dmg at all at like 25+ m meters.
I think mastif was relatively fine before the nerf, it was an rng gun,I would get 110-120 1 shot dmg with it and the next time it would be 12 12 20, so in the end it was balancing out somewhat. Now however it is worthless.
- R99 is OP, PK is OP, Charge Rifle is OP, Triple take is OP, Bocek is OP, Mastiff is OP, Spitfire is OP... This is how the playerbase proves that the weapons are actually well balanced and feel strong, they are not ticklers. - As for this being a casual game, nope. Apex Legends matches the definition of a hardcore game perfectly. The playerbase proves this as well, with the high levels of engagement and endless complaints.

You have a diametrically opposite point of view.
I am convinced that Apex is a Casual game, and that it caters to the casual player mostly. With very little attention towards the more hardcore players because they are a minority. As you stated in various posts, and as devs confirmed, the advantages of upgrading from 20 tickrates to 64 or more are negligible given the audience obviously. Any other competitive game has at the very least 64 tickrates (and 128 possibly, see ESEA for CS:GO, Valorant), despite of whatever argument about updating the entire world, or costs it may need. Since devs are not willing, cannot go that route it means that it is either not worth it for the average player (meaning the average player is not competitive enough) or the game was not meant to be competitive in the first place --hence the way it has been coded does not allow for it to work with, say, 128 updates per second). That is why I believe that Apex is a Casual game. As far as weapons go, I'm interested in talking about the peacekeeper. I think other weapons are fine the way they are, but the bow (that would be another topic).

I think the shotguns are balanced fine like you said. Have I used the PK a lot? Sure. But that's more because it's been in exile in the care package for almost a year lol. The Bique is quite effective with the extra shots. Mastiff still is pretty strong. Eva imo is every bit as deadly up close as the PK right now.
So far my honest evaluation of the PK is its more of a preference. Its the pump shotgun of the group. If you are good with pumps, you will be good with PK.
That said, I've already seen plenty of instances where at point blank I'm hitting for 25 or less damage with the PK...just like old times lol. The inconsistency seems to be back.
- @DoYaSeeMe This is why people often say that Season 2 was the most balanced. There were so many OP options that season. OP balances out OP. Just ask Overwatch players...cheese flying all over the place in that game lol.
I think they are getting back to that point where there are so many strong options in the loot pool they balance each other out.
