This Is Why AAA Devs Ignore Your Feedback

Video from Garbaj here.

Quote of importance:

"If all you do is complain about a problem and then log in to play the game regardless, you're signaling to the devs that it's not actually that big a deal and they can safely ignore it."

This is also why I think that at least half of the feedback that I get here (in particular calls for nerfs or hating on maps) isn't actually that gamebreaking, because at the end of the day the player knows deep down that they are responsible for how the outcome of a particular match went. But this game is far more operable than Battlefield 2042, which is also cited in Garbaj's video. The devs had to scramble to keep their players happy.

Sorry, but most of the complaints here are vocal minority or even "groups of individuals" who want the same thing but for their own selfish reasons. The game is alive and well, and holds steady numbers successfully.

For me, I think the game is in a fine state, and I will continue to play it.

You're 100% right about nerf/buff anxiety being out of control and not (except in rare instances) being game breaking. Ditto map hate. That said, people should speak up about what they like and don't like, and if they feel there are greener pastures somewhere else then they should move on. From what I've seen, there aren't.
  • Mate the morality of the devs, if that quote is what you support is not quite right. The focus of the developers shifted to a complete maximise of funds income, with the least labour and player satisfaction (to an extent) possible.

The moral is, new legends, new skins. Enough to keep players playing, but little regard to the player community's wishes. I believe it would be righteous to concentrate on the playability for a small period of time, the bugs, the glitches, the consequence of losing ranks and games for things that aren't even the player's fault to begin with do still exist(you'll be amazed to see these replays accross the internet).

We play the game because we love the game. We dream of one day for the developers to hear us, invest in better servers, fix the game's issues, not throw it down the toilet on our faces simply because we continue to play it.

An example is if you buy something, let's say a car or a coffee machine. It starts not working, giving bad tasting coffee or the air conditioning of the car stops working. Because we still use the machines or things, does that give the right for the company's to not fix it? And instead they just give us other capsules of other coffee tastes, or a fan to stick in our car, WHILST still charging us.

They ignore us because they have the power todo so. Its not in their slightest interest if they still get the money coming in. They just try to elude us that they are satisfying us as a whole.

I pray for one day where a higher person of conscience will see this.

I have 2 opinions on that subject.

    1) Video games are addictive, so if someone is taking the time to remove themselves from that addiction, they're personally trying to make that product better. Just because someone says something is wrong with a product, but continues to keep using it, doesn't make it unimportant, it directly means the opposite in my opinion.

    2) There is also the human psychological ordeal with staying in an abusive and/ or disruptive environment even though it's detrimental to their own health. Video games fall into that category. Someone could be wanting to move, but can't because they're either addicted and/ or don't have something else to replace it with.

I quit playing Apex Legends as the gameplay seems artificial. Like on release the game just had the right amount of Legends, and/ or weapons for a balanced game, but every update kept slowly throwing it off.

I started playing this game after its release and I think it's gotten worse over the years (honest about that).

Netcode should have been rewritten by now.
Cross-play should have been a choice.

    "...WHILST still charging us."

Last I checked payment was optional.

No truer words were ever spoken.
  • @NullEffective9 I don't think the motivations of the game producer and the player align. That's why a lot of what you experience in games these days often doesn't seem to make any sense.

When there is a drop in player count, the game producer will market the game more on social media like YouTube and Reddit or wherever, using influencers and all of that rubbish, to entice players in.

If they see that players are trying to boycott the game, they will probably try to discredit the boycott in one way or another. Or just ignore it. If you know that players are going away for one particular month and then coming back, then what's the point of even worrying about it?

If a game producer had to rely purely on the quality of gameplay to sell the game, and not on microtransactions and loot boxes, then the quality of gameplay would increase. You also wouldn't see so much of the really manipulative gameplay design in games like Apex. This is how games used to be. Then there was a lot of manipulative gameplay design but no so much of the microtransactions or loot boxes. But then all of it was combined and at that point people expected governments to step-in and regulate the industry. And some did take a stand. But most haven't and this has been a really weird situation, especially in light of some of the horrifi stories about addiction and spending on loot boxes.

Even in the last day, in the UK, the Online Safety Bill has been delayed again. Even though it's been drafted since 2019. Some people say the bill is not very good anyway.

But this has been the way of the world for a long time now.

The sad thing for the gamer is that these massive companies like EA, Microsoft, Blizzard, Ubisoft etc. control all of the production. So if you want to play the best games you have to just put up with it.

No gamechat for 3+ months was somewhat 'unplayable', especially in higher end rank lobbies like S13 Plat. Input lag was 'unplayable' as to bugs just a few weeks ago on Xbox...they took forever to acknowledge, with no updates, and to think I had bought a new gen xbox thinking the overall experience will be better.

Because of it, I haven't touched Apex in a while....I got fed up, and now that they're fixed, or so they say, I have no desire to run back to the game. No Apex August should have been no July Apex, maybe then players would have jumped onboard, August is too far.

Watched the ALGS, and the lack of organization, like simple covid rooms for a 2M dollar tournament tells me everything I need to know as to EA/Respawn.

For the OG’s, we know the game is in a bad state, we know that for every update/new season, it means the game will be broken even more. That being said, don’t get mad or passionate about it on here, or you’ll get sent on forced vacation. Side note as to EA, when you open a case, they give you the generic replies, and never even come back to you lol

At this point I am fairly sure that there are no real devs working on this game, just people that crate skins, charms and small map updates.

@reconzero Payment is optional for amenities to elude you to still use the malfunctioning item. If you don't pay, you will still use the broken thing you bought in the first place without getting it fixed by the company.
    Sounds better?
