You don't really need a game to be good, just pretty, right?

I mean, let's be real, people need to believe a story about how a game is rather than look at how it really plays, they want to see pretty pictures and characters they think work the way they are portrayed, and if they have that, they will be happy for the excuse to buy $18 skins and waste countless hours playing.

This is not pontificating, I'm pretty sure I've fallen for it too here with Apex Legends.

But straight talk, people are more playing the idea of what Apex is, and not actually playing the game that exists, which is (like many other games) not really that good.

  • @KelRiever No I need a game to be fun. Apex is fun. You can pretend it isn't but you keep playing so clearly it is 😉
  • Well, that's a matter of perspective hayhor.

    It's not really an absolute.  I would admit I've had fun until now, I can't deny that, in one way or another.  But I'm not sure my kind of fun is your kind of fun, or the right kind of fun.  Throwing games to get my own personal satisfaction is for sure fun for me, but is that what Apex is supposed to be about?  Also, I'm having fun ignoring my team mates and letting them die, then carrying them to a top 5 in ranked; I'm having fun, are they?

    Can you have fun and a game still be bad?

    I think you can.  And you could say Apex is an excellent game for allowing me to play alone and throw and ignore most of the characters in their game and rules in their list.  But I'm going to say having fun with a bad game mostly means the game is terrible, and like an awful movie that strikes my fancy, it can still be for me up to a point.

    Underworld is not a good movie by any means, but I like it.  It has the same appeal, attractiveness and fitting a particular genre.  But let's not kid ourselves, it is a bad movie.  This game is very much like that for me, it is super pretty, and it has a good story.  I mean, none of that matters at all for being a good game for game play but you know, it's way more important to have that than like Minecraft, which is a good game, with excellent play, but block head people and no videos to look forward to every 3 months, right?

    @KelRiever In my opinion if you have fun ruining others experiences you have issues to deal with far greater than is apex fun.

    And I don't care what you and my kids say......minecraft is terrible. 🤣
  • Minecraft is legendary and will be remembered in history, whereas Apex will not.

    But as far as my issues go, I do enjoy having my Seer display no kills and no wins, but 110 games played. I’m going to go for at least 1000 games. And when he shows all that at the beginning of a match, I enjoy that match right through the drop I make straight off the edge.

  • As a solo queuer there just isn't the same fun factor the game used to have say several seasons ago & even many Youtubers who usually wax lyrical about Apex & whom wouldn't dare say a bad word about the game even admit the playing the game as a solo queuer sucks.And over the past few seasons i'll admit I've kind of regretted buying the season pass so early into the season & kind of forced myself to grind out the game just to complete the season pass rather than playing for enjoyment purposes.And yes whilst the game may evolve with every new season by tweaking around with a few fringe areas around a map & call it 'big changes' or introduce a new character that fundamentally has the same abilities as an existing character effectively making many character less unique.But fundamental issues the game has had for a number of seasons hasn't evolved & have stayed the same where they just seem to be either largely ignored or have a blind eye turned to them.Match-fill issues,loot layout,poor match making,server issues,mass cheating,hotspots,disconnection issues,weapon recoil,hit box issues,input lag,& other general  game balances etc which been in the game for a while & yet nothing is done about it but when there is a skin issue it's seen as top priority.

    @Redmattgame Good point.

    Oh and @hayhor yeah, I agree.  I've got 2 team mates basically ruining my game experience with their hot drops.  Seriously, what kind of world is this where they're constantly trying to ruin my fun and getting enjoyment out of it? 🙂

    @KelRiever There's a difference with a hot dropper and what you are doing though. The hot droppers think everyone does that so they think everyone has fun. They are simply blind to others preferences. This is pretty normal in all aspects of life. You picking a character and purposely getting yourself and teammates killed is different.
