35+ crashes to desktop during a game w/o error message following S14 update
Platform: Steam
OS: Windows 10
GPU: EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3
Graphics Driver: 516.94
Description:
Before S14, I very rarely observed CTD's and could easily play a 2+ hr gaming session without seeing a single crash.
After the S14 update, without any changes to my Nvidia settings or game settings, I started to encounter at least 1 CTD in every game that I have played (sometimes even up to 3). This has understandably made my gaming experience really poor and I want to figure out why this is occurring. This is the only game I seem to have such issues with and I heard the last update might've added some changes to the anti-cheat so I was wondering if this resulted from those changes. From my Crashpad folder alone, there are currently 35 dump files and this is only counting the crashes experienced after reinstalling the game to another drive to see if that would help resolve the crashes.
With regards to how exactly the crashes happen, I am able to log in and get into games no problem, but the frequency and timing of the crash appears to be random. I don't believe I have ever crashed during firing range and I don't recall crashing on maps that weren't King's Canyon, although the sample size is low, given that I mostly play ranked and the pubs rotation is fairly slow since I would only consider playing pubs on World's Edge. I've experienced situations where I CTD off drop (once while I was jumpmaster), in the middle of fights with other players where lots is going on, and when nothing crazy is happening in-game(i.e. we're just rotating to zone). So, I'm not sure if this is due to something in the game or an external process outside of it.
Attempts to troubleshoot:
Quite a few times, I have seen the following error message in Event Viewer with the crash timestamp:
Session "dc3a3596-71e1-45a3-b2ea-39ad5322fe51" failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000022
However, this error isn't really descriptive and sometimes there's no event associated with the crash. I've also seen various users report different solutions for this particular error, none of which have worked on my game.
Things I have already attempted in order to fix this issue:
- Removed undervolting of GPU
- Reinstalled the game to another SSD
- Verified integrity of files
- Updated the graphics driver to the latest available version
- Ran r5apex.exe as administrator
- Uninstalling anti-virus (Malwarebytes)
- Added the Apex folder as an exception in Windows Defender
- Ran Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit to see if there are any drivers causing issues for EAC
- Set priority of EasyAntiCheat.exe to low in Task Manager
- Enabled DirectPlay on my Windows PC
I have also reviewed the following community articles and have not gained further progress in resolving my frequent crashes this season:

I have a couple of other programs/processes in the background that could be running at any given time, but there isn't anything here that is different from what was there prior to the S14 update:
- Razer Central/Synapse
- EVGA Precision X1
- MSI Afterburner
- Nvidia Settings
- GDrive/Dropbox
- MS Powertoys
- LGHub
- Windows Security/Defender
- ShareX
- Steam
- Google Chrome
- Discord
Do you have any suggestions here or has anyone else experienced similar behavior in their games following S14, specifically situations where you crash during a game? I can attach a zip folder of some example crash dump files I've generated if there is a tool that can look into them for further insight.
Since this seemed to only happen after S14, this has to be an issue with whatever anti-cheat changes were made since if it were an in-game error, I would get an error message when I log back in to the game, right?
Please let me know if I have misunderstood or if there are other items I can check to fix this behavior. Should I just wait for the next update/patch if this is a known issue/bug?
