Adjust gunshots volume?

The sound effect for gunshots is extremely loud and high pitched (especially with headshots) compared to all the other sound effects (footsteps and abilities). 

is there anyway to lower the volume for gunshots alone? I don't have the option to enable Loudness Equalization for my audio device in Windows settings. I also tried using Voicemeeter Banana to hard limit my audio to prevent clipping but it adds a significant delay to my audio which doesn't feel right for FPS games.
