Apex crash when launching a game

Hi everyone !

I just bought a new computer

MB Aorus 550 Elite V2

Ryzen 7 3700X

Radeon 6800

16 GB RAM 3600Mhz

Be quiet 650 gold +

When i launch a game, my screen goes black and my fans goes crazy, like for real then stop and my screen says HDMI not responding. I tried all i can find on the forums :

BIOS update (i was in F1 and goes to F10)

CG driver update

Windows update

Reinstall the game.

Nothing change. Try to lauch 3 times, 3 times the same crazy bug and now i'm afraid too launch it again.

If someone know where the problem comes from and have a solution

Thanks in advance o/

  • @Mr-Phokie Can you try disabling any other Anti-cheat running (like uncheater, etc) and try again? If you continue having issues can you share a new DxDaig?

  • First of all, thanks for the quick answer.

So, I juste made a clean boot and launch training mode for 15 minutes. It seems to work. I noticed two things :

    - Steam ask for an install at  launch and it was ea anti cheat.

    - I check my log on my GPU. It seems the game take a lot of ressources. I use standard configuration and have 70 % of my GPU used, 39 W (normal for this) and the fan at 500. It's like twice any other game, except of CP 2077, which i play in full ultra.

I still ran a DxDiag, it the clean boot mode i join with this msg.

Edit : I launch in normal mode, get a new crash and now ive a pop up in chain from window tellin me an usb port havn't enough power (but all of my stuff is usb is working).

  • Ok so, i make an update after multiple tests.

I tried to relaunch the game in clean boot after a new BIOS upgrade, the newest released by GIGABYTE last week. I launch the game and put all settings to minimum

I was able to make 15 min in training mode and one game. In my second game (so for all, like 45 min of play), i get the same crash.

Can't find what much i should do.

@Mr-Phokie This information may be a bit outdated since you did a Bio update, but looking at your last DxDiag attached there a few things I noticed.

I don't see any crash report from Apex under the 'Windows Error Reporting" section, This with the case you are getting power messages (the USB one mentioned) makes me think this might be system related.

The issues I did see is your AMD GPU shows the drive date as of 13/11/2020, can you check for updates to your GPU as there are some that were released this month. Next, I see crash issues related to executables "etinit.exe" & "etocfile.exe" I think these are related to the Easy tune with GIGABYTE. To check are you doing any overclocking?

If you still are having issues after check the above information out to confirm are running any other overlays, Anti-cheats, or Security software when trying to run Apex Legends?

I installed the latest i can find this morning, it's date from 18/01/21.

"Next, I see crash issues related to executables "etinit.exe" & "etocfile.exe" I think these are related to the Easy tune with GIGABYTE. To check are you doing any overclocking? "

I don't make overclocking and my CG is a Sapphire 6800 basic; i don't see a difference with an FE versions. I've installed Easy tune after fy first crashes for the BIOS update (it's in the package with APP CENTER). Just ran it, the profile is on default.

"If you still are having issues after check the above information out to confirm are running any other overlays, Anti-cheats, or Security software when trying to run Apex Legends?"

In clean boot, i've nothing else than the game. In normal boot, i've :

    -AMD Crash defender

    -AMD External Event

    - Easy Anti Cheat

    -Battle Eye

    -EsayTUne

    -GYGABYTE adjust

    -Google CHROME

    - PANDA (the AV, got like 5 services)

    -Realtek

    - Steam

    - Uncheater for BattleGrouds

    -Zachyntos Service

    - Overwolf Updater

    -LGHUB Upadte

    - Origin

    -Hardware Monitor by GIGABYTE

    -OCButtunservice

I precise the AMD Software said to me after last crash (so in clean boot) " AMD WATTMAN parameters has been restaured to default after a system failure"  and he recommands me to keep downgrade APEX.

Ofc, it's the only game with this issues.

    Thx Again !
