Apex crashes on startup

Hello!

I have recently gotten issue that I've seen posted on here a decent amount, but none of the solutions I've seen so far have fixed it for me. When I launch Apex from Steam, the game launches but right before I get to the "click to continue" screen then it crashes. Below are my PC specs and troubleshooting steps I performed.

Specs:

  • GPU: EVGA RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 ULTRA GAMING (12G-P5-3967)
    • Driver: 551.76
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-12700K
  • Windows 11 Pro v22H2 2261.3235

Troubleshooting steps:

  • Repaired/Verified in steam
  • Full uninstalled via Revo Uninstaller (clears extra files + leftover reg keys)
  • Ran sfc /scannow, DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth, chkdsk /r
  • Verified that IPv6 was disabled on my network adaptor
  • Tested opening specified ports on my firewall + opening ALL ports for my IP
  • Ran Wireshark and checked for obvious failures
  • Checked for Windows updates + Nvidia driver updates + Reinstalled gpu drivers
  • Checked for ANY crash logs (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Apex Legends\Crashpad\db) but was empty
  • Checked for any erroneous event logs

Please let me know if there any additional troubleshooting steps I either missed, or can/should perform. Thanks everyone for your assistance 🙂

  • Hi,

I have the same problem with my setup (i9 14900k, rtx 4070 ti gigabyte elite on windows 11). I have reinstall windows and reinstall the game but then I launch it the crash persist.

(I have tried with steam and EA app but same problem).

Where can I found the log ?

    Thanks

  • I have figured out my specific issue (Or at least mine is working after making this change). So at some point Windows decided to enable "Auto HDR" or the setting that converts SDR content into HDR, and for some reason that appeared to be crashing my game. I can't confirm 100% that this was the issue, but once I disabled that feature, my game now reliably starts up.

    Hi,

I have checked if I have the "auto hdr" settings enable but no.

But I have an hdr screen and I have activate the hdr settings. I will try without the hdr to see if it crash.

Do you have the hdr settings on ?

  • I disabled HDR on my monitor as well, (mostly because it’s bad), but I wouldn’t think it would impact the game, but disabling it is worth a try.
