Apex Legends Crashes After Recent Javelin Anti-Cheat Update – Steam/EA App
Hello EA Support,
I'm experiencing persistent crashes in Apex Legends on PC. The game closes to desktop without displaying an error message, usually after approximately five minutes, including while sitting in the lobby or Practice Range.
I previously posted about this issue on the EA Forums, but after three days without a response, I'm opening a new ticket in hopes of getting assistance.
System specifications
- OS: Windows 10 Pro, Build 19045
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Super
- Platform: Originally installed through Steam
Troubleshooting already performed
- Verified Apex Legends game files through Steam.
- Updated NVIDIA drivers using DDU and NVCleanstall; the issue persisted.
- Reinstalled or attempted to install Apex Legends through the EA app, but this did not resolve the issue.
- Removed my video configuration file (videoconfig.txt), with no improvement.
- Tried Safe Mode/clean boot using EA's troubleshooting instructions, but the issue persisted.
- Disabled unnecessary network adapters.
- Restarted my PC and checked Windows Reliability Monitor and Event Viewer.
- Checked for crash dumps, but I could not find a recent Apex-related dump in the usual locations.
Event Viewer findings
- Repeated EA Javelin Anti-Cheat application errors, Event ID 1000.
- Service Control Manager errors, Event ID 7023, involving EAAntiCheatService.
- Manually starting EAAntiCheatService through Windows Services returns Error 87: “The parameter is incorrect.”
- The anti-cheat service executable exists at C:\Program Files\EA\AC\eaanticheat.gameservice.exe, and its registered service path appears correct.
- Apex Legends does not appear in the EA Anti-Cheat installer’s game selection, so I cannot select Apex for repair through that installer.
I am currently updating to the latest NVIDIA graphics drivers to test whether this changes anything.
The timing and anti-cheat service errors make me suspect that the recent Javelin Anti-Cheat update may be related, but I have not been able to confirm the root cause.
Could the EA team investigate whether there is a known issue with the current Javelin Anti-Cheat version and Apex Legends on Windows 10? I would appreciate specific troubleshooting steps or an official fix that does not require downloading another copy of the game or repeating the steps listed above.
I can provide my DxDiag report, Event Viewer logs, and any relevant crash dump files if needed.
Thank you.
