I installed Apex Legends a few days ago and it worked just fine, but since last night this error pops up :The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). After that I get a notification from Easy Anti Cheat saying something about a file called winhttp.dll , and that it's not a trusted system file . But before that I also got one saying that normaliz.dll is not a trusted system file , and I think it has to do with file corruption. It happened on other games secured by Easy Anti Cheat. I tried a lot of methods to solve the problem such as a sfc scan , something to do with crypto graphic services and stopping them then turning them on again , clearing Origin's game cache , reinstalling the game or pressing right click on it in Origins and clicking "Repair" , but they all lead to another problem and do nothing. Does anyone know how to permanently stop it ?

I have the same thing. Good luck
- 7 years agoIf you search on google you find many topics about this error with different games so very little chance it has to specifically do with apex legends.. Someone posted to remove the certificates from the apex anti cheat folder (Apex\EasyAntiCheat\Certificate) I doubt this will work but it worked for that person.. Can you post a screenshot of your Visual C++ installations (windows programs)? You can also try running windows update
