look i fixed it by downloading the steam_api64 again and copy it (replace) to C:\Windows\System32 and C:\Windows\SysWOW64 try it and tell me if it works
This has been an issue for many of us since 28th July update. Respawn/Apex has made no formal acknowledgment of the issue however EA members say they are aware and trying to fix. Some people successfully got theirs to work after many different community-provided suggestions; like messing with drivers in sys32 ect, many have received bans for some odd reason after messing with files and drivers, or messed up their PC. Better off to just wait for a hot-fix if reinstalling and verifying doesn't work for you. The time you waste trying to fix a game that shouldnt have this issue in the first place will drive you insane.
there is no solution until this day, still cant play the game
I just had this same issue and found a fix.
Boot Steam
Go to Library Tab
Right click on Apex on left side and hit properties
Click on local files
Click verify integrity of game files...
I had 3 non-verifiable files but this fixed it.
