Thank you for the prompt response. Can that thread then be pinned like the DXGI error thread so users know to post information there? Or perhaps start an official thread?
I've been combating this issue since launch and missed that post, and I've been actively looking. I wouldn't have known you were tracking that specific post.
Thanks
Respawn still aren't interested in bad_module_info crashes? Any word on even just a pinned thread for data collection, like the DXGI one? I'm not expecting customer support to fix the crashes but not even a pinned thread? It's been a month. It's frankly concerning that every dev update on reddit acknowledging the crashes just points back to this thread, and never actually addresses the issue.
@Comanglia saw your name pop up and just wanted to say hi, I'm still using your TF2 FPS cfg to this day. Big thanks!

Hi! Thanks for using it, I actually am working on a bit of an update for my Team Fortress 2 FPS cfg. Also working on one for this game as well but it's an absolute nightmare trying to figure out what actually works and if they are / are not related to the crashes this game has.
While I do believe I mostly resolved my issue discord is still a bit of a problem. Having discord open and in voice was fine so long as I had it minimized. If I had it open I would crash shortly after. If I remembered to minimize after checking messages no crash. Both crashes gave bad_module_info errors. I was using hardware acceleration for discord so it may be related.
I may be completely off here but judging by the fact that for some people resolve the issue by either taking the side of their case off, maxing their fan speed on their gpu, lowering fps_max, lowering the texture streaming setting, increasing power performance to "prefer max performance" in nvidia control panel, disabling their 2nd monitor, closing discord or in my case minimizing discord and usually it's hardware accelerated by the gpu. It seems very likely that the crash is caused by mismanagement/lack of GPU resources or a sudden dip in GPU performance. Considering all of those options either improve cooling performance and thus decreases the chance a GPU will underclock itself from getting to hot, provides maximum power for the GPU to utilize or just using less GPU resources.
If my assumption is correct I'd be quite surprised considering with all low settings and a fps_max of 144 people should be CPU bound 100% of the time for anything roughly equal to a GTX1060 or perhaps lower. I know I'm CPU bound in CSGO and Team Fortress 2 even when using ridiculous settings like 16x AA, 16x Anistropic Filtering, with mat_picmip -1 at 1080p. I get that Apex is a larger game but just having 60 players and a massive map doesn't add nearly as much GPU strain as it does CPU.
Editting this in
These are the steps I took to resolve the majority of my issues.
- Uninstall Origin, Uninstall Apex Legends
- reinstall Origin, reinstall Apex Legends
- disable origin overlay, and readd Apex Legends launch options -full -normal -dxlevel 95 -refresh [MaxMonitorHzHere] -novid -nojoy +exec [CFGfileIfYouHaveOne] +fps_max 144 are most of the launch options I have. Note use -normal instead of -high; -high can cause a bug where the menu to go to the main lobby screen just tells you to update origin. You might be able to get away with uncapped fps i.e. +fps_max 0, but I'm relatively certain most systems will have crashes with that setting atm.
- Allow the Easy Anticheat Service to restart
- set everything in Apex Legends to default
- set most settings to low/off. Set texture streaming to Low rather than disabled, having it set to disabled has thrown some errors at me about insufficient VRAM
- set binds to however you prefer them
For whatever reason simply "repairing" or "validating" game files didn't fix this even though what I ended up doing should effectively been the same thing just a bit cleaner.
