Controller support on Apex yet its not working

I've tried to use my controller to play apex as I recently just moved from ps5 to pc however its not working I would have used steam but someone hacked m y account and added a steam account years ago I've removed it when I got my account but now I cant connect my own steam account to apex now its frustrating as I want to  play the game but now I cant is there a fix please .
