Disk Write Error

I have a primary SSD with the OS and some other applications and a secondary HDD with Origin and games in it. Every time I try to install the game it will say "disk write error" and cannot complete the installation. I also tried to install it via Steam but it will say the same. I could determine that there are some files that cannot be written. e.g. \paks\Win64\pc_all.opt.starpak and others, too but I cannot remember all of them.

I later though it was my disk that was faulted so I ran the chkdsk tool and solved any problems it had. I tried to install it again and obtained the same result. I then decided to format the disk and install it once more, still, the same error. I tried to install another game, a different one. I installed 5 different games and I successfully installed them all. I even installed applications there and there was no problems, at all. Only with Apex Legends.

Got it, thanks! If you had the game installed previously on a different HDD before switching the drives, I'm curious if there might be something left over in the registry that's causing issues. You can try running something like CCleaner to see if that helps, but keep in mind it would be at your own risk.

If that's something you're interested in trying check out the CCleaner website for more info. If you do give it a shot please let me know if you're still getting the same disk write errors afterward. Thanks again!

    Hi @Sagas

Have you ever had Apex Legends installed on your PC in the past, or is this the first time you've ever tried installing the game?

    Hey, Kent!

This is the first time I install the game in the disc. I have changed all my drives so the first time I got the error was a clean installation.

Ah, yes, I had Apex installed in my old (and dead) HDD.

I ran CCleaner and cleaned the applications and Windows' stuff, then checked for registry issues (There was over 1,200!) and fixed all of them. Lastly I rebooted my PC. Then I tried to install Apex one more time. I was anxious the whole time. To my surprise and joy it installed completely, and with no errors whatsoever! I played two games and died pathetically because I am less than a pan in the battlefield, but I surely still enjoy Apex!

Thank you, Kent! Thank you very much!
