Easy Anti Cheat Service has broken Apex for me - please advise

Similar to the problem in this post, I haven't been able to play Apex Legends since about April 26. An update from around that time seems to have caused Easy Anti Cheat to crash the game whenever I try to launch through steam.

I've tried other games that use it and they also crash in the same way - with it just freezing on the same frame.

I thought maybe I'd done something to mess up my graphics card installation but have since done a clean reset on my entire windows system, re-downloaded steam and Apex and tried again and I get the same thing.

Trying to open C:\Program Files (x86)\EasyAntiCheat_EOS doesn't work. It just doesn't open.

The log file in "C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\EasyAntiCheat\service.log" has the following output

[EAC Setup] [4516] [21:11:26:286] [Info] Process started, running as admin: true.
[EAC Setup] [4516] [21:11:26:287] [Info] Started with ''.
[EAC Setup] [4516] [21:11:26:287] [Info] Argument handling done, requested action: 0.
[EAC Setup] [4516] [21:11:26:287] [Err!] No setup action was requested, terminating.

I've tried everything that's on the internet to fix this including;

- deleting anti cheat files and then repairing through steam

- running as admin

- deleting registry keys for EAC and then repairing

- downloading EA version and launching that

- downloading other games that use anti cheat and they have exactly the same problem

We have concluded that an update made to Apex legends has broken it for a considerable number of people and is still unfixed.

Really bummed out as me and my wife bought this gaming PC so we could play Apex together (with one of us on a PS5) and we've been unable to play for the last month because of this.

Would really appreciate it if EA took this issue seriously and escalated it to their developers as it's obviously having significant impact.

I've attached both log files I could find, one is service.log and the other is anticheatlauncher.log (re-exported at txt files so I could attach)

  • @engmavMe too. Windows 11, Intel I7, Intel Iris Xe graphics, 16GB RAM, 500GB SSD, Lenovo Yoga. Sometimes I can get the odd game in but it seems to be completely by chance, because the error ALWAYS comes back. I'm forced to go back to my Switch, which is the last thing I wanted to do.

The fact that we're being completely ignored by the devs is very disappointing. I've been banned from the Apex subreddit for posting about this.

  • Same issue here, thought I'd leave a comment and hope this isn't a dead topic. Hoping there's a solution out there??
