Error Code: 30005 (CreateService failed with 1072)

This error just occurred out of nowhere when the game was running fine the day before. It happens during the Initializing step of the anti cheat

I've tried :

  1. Reinstalling the game, the EAC, in different drives, both SSD and HDD.
  2. Disable Selective Startup Items as instructed by the customer support live chat.
  3. Running both the game and anti cheat as Administrator.
  4. Checking firewall and windows defender settings to make sure all permissions are allowed.

So far, nothing works. What else can I try?

    Here's my last report:

While waiting for a response I was trying a few more things.

    1. "sfc /scannow" but no errors found.
    2. I went to msconfig and unchecked "Load Startup Items" again, but this time in Safe mode with Networking. Then restarted normally.
    3. Went to properties of "start_protected_game.exe", "Apexlauncher.exe", "EasyAntiCheat_EOS_Setup.exe", and the EAC .exe file in Program Files (x86) on C drive. Set them all run as Administrators.

The game was able to run again afterwards.

Sorry for such a late and undetailed update, I've had a long day and kinda tired right now. I changed properties of all those files in step 3 so I'm not sure which solved the problem.

I had also tried repairing the EAC like you suggested before I created this discussion as I found a thread on it somewhere else online but for me, nothing shows up when I try to run the EasyAntiCheat.exe file, no matter if it is as Administrator or not. It means exactly what I typed, nothing shows up at all, as if I just double click on the void. Not sure what happens but I guess this might be a possible fix for whoever has to face the same issue as I did.

  • MonkaMonkey  When you checked the firewall and Windows Defender, did you check the permissions for both Apex and the EAC, or just one of those?

Furthermore, do you have anything else that may be blocking Apex/EAC?

I checked both, and nothing at all is blocking Apex/EAC. As I stated, the game was working fine the day before, then I turned off my PC, the next day I got that error.

MonkaMonkey  When I had looked up "CreateService failed with 1072", Google mentioned its often related to conflicts or blockage by another program, (often being the anti-virus program), which is why I had asked if you had checked both the game and the EAC.

Even though you had reinstalled the EAC, you can also try repairing the EAC for the game by heading over to "C:\Program Files (x86)\EasyAntiCheat" and running "EasyAntiCheat.exe", (an "EasyAntiCheat_EOS_Setup.exe" can also be found in the "EasyAntiCheat" folder where you had installed Apex).

Once the "EasyAntiCheat.exe" is running, you should see this window:

If I remember correctly, Apex Legends should be "Game 154", (but it may be best to repair every service that you see anyways):

You may also need to repair your PC's system files:

    • Open the Command Prompt in administrator mode

    • Type, "DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth" (without the quotes), and wait for it to finish.
Note: DISM stands for "Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool". It often repairs Microsoft related files, such as issues with Window apps. Some problems with the next file checker can only be fixed after running this one first.

    • Now type, "sfc /scannow" (without the quotes), and wait for it to finish.
Note: sfc stands for "System File Checker". This one will repair system files, (such as important Windows drivers).

    • Lastly, restart your PC.

You should also check for Windows and driver updates to make sure those are updated as well.

      MonkaMonkey  No worries!

I'm glad its working for you now, (and if I had to guess, it was elevating the "start_protected_game.exe" and EAC .exe that fixed it, (but who knows... the EAC is weird at times)).

I'm not sure why it happens, but it does do that for some players, (it did it to me a few times as well).
