FPS Drops and Random stutters simple FIX (PC Only)

I've found a way to kinda reduce the FPS drops and random stuttering/freezing after every update (season update or event update)

Important! If you experiencing these problems, it probably your spec is not good enough or your PC isn't optimized for gaming yet, so look it up on YouTube on how to optimize your Windows for gaming, especially for Apex.

It's pretty simple:

1. Delete videoconfig.txt from C:\Users\USER\Saved Games\Respawn\Apex\local (you can also delete all files inside the local folder, but if you have customized some key, it will reset too)

2. Start the game. (The game will recreate a new videoconfig.txt)

3. Now, if you have customized values inside the videoconfig.txt. you might want to put your customized values manually. So, remember your customized lines & values. (I personally don't copy-paste my previous videoconfig.txt with the new one, but I'm not sure if that makes any difference)

Do this after every update, no matter how small or big, I do notice the difference even though at some POI my FPS still drops either because of my spec or the map itself isn't optimized/too much to render.

This might not work for some people.

  • @bosourd This doesn't work indeed, because there is no rationale reason for it to work.
the videoconfig is just a txt files, if you finally modify the new one to be like the old one, it will be just the same in the end.
As for windows optimization, it might helps, but fact is the game has a problem. I started at the end of Season 7, Mayhem was playable, I got 50-60 fps by optimizing videoconfig and autoexec, but not I can barely get 40 fps, after having reduced resolution from 1024x768 to 768x480 (which is the lowest authorized resolution).
Stuttering and code:net are endless, I can only play in Arena, BR gets me killed every time they hot drop. It is obvious the problem can't be solved with just this

@IMightKickAss  that’s ok, because this fix worked for me and my friends in my circle, also for some of them this fix didn’t work.
My friends and I have dealt with fps drops for a while until we tried this fix and it got better, this one doesn’t make sense so we didn’t even think about it.

So yeah, if this doesn’t work for you, I’m sorry, but there is no biggie to try this one out for those who don’t know what else to do.
