FPS drops from 258 - 40fps

Intel 12900, 64 gb ram, RTX 3080ti

After upgrading NVidia driver (doesn't matter which version), My frame rates in Apex are fast, until my PC locks up. After several hard boot restarts, game plays fine at measly 30 - 50fps. No other game or application does this - only Apex Legends. And yes, I regularly clean shader cache.

I know dropping framerates have plagued this game before, anyone got any ideas? I'm considering upgrading to a 5080 but have a feeling this won't do anything but make me poorer.

They did something on back end / silent update. My game was running great before typical update time of 7-8 PM -> went on to play with 3stack finally -> severe FPS drops, stutters out of nowhere -> did not play a single game.
Upgrading for Apex - don't bother. This game is plagued by basically every bad bit possible.
If only someone would create such mechanically satisfying game just that works :D would be amazing. Respawn clearly can only break it in N different ways time and time again.
