  • Just wanted to post the same issue.

    System:
    W11 22H2, 7800X3D, RTX 4090, launching via EA App

    What happens:
I launch the game, the easy anti cheat banner appears: "initializing game", game launches into full-screen, crashes almost immediately (during Respawn logo).

    This is what I've tried:
    - Verified Game File Integrity (via EA App)
    - Enabled Windows Compatibility settings: Disabled "Fullscreen Optimizations" and forced "Run as Admin" (on r5apex and r5apex_dx12.exe) [I couldn't get the dx12 version to run. Because I got a "settingsdx12.json couldn't be found"-error, I tried this argument: "-eac_launcher_settings Settings.json" in the EA App but couldn't get it to work and deleted the argument again.]
    - Clean Re-installed latest GPU driver (via new NVIDIA App; performed clean install which reset all settings)
    - Ran Windows Update: Since it's Patch Tuesday and stable B-week updates are available I installed all available updates, restarted, installed another update that became available after the first batch and restarted the PC one additional time)
    - Updated DirectX
    - Fixed Shader Caches:
Disabled caching via NVIDIA App, deleted the windows folders for the DirectX and OpenGL Shader Caches, additionally I used the Windows Disk Cleanup tool "cleanmgr" and restarted the PC. Just to be safe I also cleared my Steam cache)
    - Closed Overlays: Discord, Steam and YoloMouse (via Task Manager)
    - Windows Firewall: Allowed all Apex and EA App instances on both public and private networks (I did not find the Easy Anti Cheat software to whitelist it!!)
    - Ran Windows Drive Optimisation
    - Asked ChatGPT, checked Reddit and the EA Forums
    - Deleted all Game files and am currently re-downloading the entire game

What I have not done (yet) [waiting for the game re-downlaod to finish]:
    - Resetting BIOS to default:
Might be useful cause it could include Overclocking settings even though I am fairly confident I my reset my BIOS fairly recently without applying overclocking settings afterwards (I also did not overclock during the NVIDIA App)
    - Disable NVIDIA overlay:
Honestly this shouldn't cause any issues but I might disable it nevertheless just to try after the re-install.
Clean Boot: Haven't yet performed a clean boot or safe boot to start Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This could help identify background applications that might cause the crashes. I think the only ones I did not close yet were: Chrome, Spotify and OneDrive.
    - Potential Hardware Issues: I am unaware of any hardware issues
    - Windows Compatibility Mode: Haven't tried these yet because i did not know which settings to choose. I heard Windows 7 is recommended but that seemed strange to me since it is so outdated at this point.
    - Graphics Driver Roll Back:
Haven't performed one because the game was stable on my current driver yesterday before the update.
    - Launching via Steam: Wasn't able to do that because my EA Account used to be linked to a Steam account I am no longer using. I reached out to EA Support before but apparently you are unable to link an EA Account to a new Steam Account once it was linked to another Account under any circumstances whatsoever?? - Has this changed since the cross-progression update??)
