Game stuck on the News/Inbox screen

Hi, recently got a new pc and installed Apex, upon launching I press continue on the main screen and it goes black for a few seconds and then loads me into the lobby, with the News/Inbox screen overlay. From here I can't exit out of the screen and play the game, pressing ESC or the Back button just do nothing, I can press the F keys to go to settings, Space to go to Legends, etc. but can't go to the lobby. After about 20 seconds of being in this state I get a code:net, and this just loops no matter what I do.

Platform: PC/Steam

Things I've tried: Full reinstallation, installing from the EA App, verifying integrity of files, restarting PC, restarting router, gpu, chipset and windows updates, running game as admin, running in compatibility mode, changing data centers.

If there's any fix for this I'd appreciate it.
