How to fix Apex Legends Video Settings Auto Reset Bug
ISSUE: Apex Legends would reset video settings every time it's launched.
DIAGNOSIS: Windows 10 Real-time Protection automatically blocks the game from saving any changes in settings AND turns itself back ON after it's been disabled by the user.
FIX: DISABLE WINDOWS DEFENDER REAL-TIME PROTECTION FROM AUTOMATICALLY STARTING.
HOW-TO:
1. In the Windows search bar type in "Virus"
2. Click on Virus & Threat Protection settings.
3. A: If it shows you have third-party anti-virus program at the top go to the bottom and click on Windows Defender Antivirus options and TURN OFF "Periodic Scanning".
B: If it shows Real-time Protection at the top TURN OFF all switches on that page.
4. Go to this website: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/3569-turn-off-windows-defender-real-time-protection-windows-10-a.html
5. Scroll to the bottom (OPTION SEVEN) and download the file: Disable_Windows_Defender_Real-Time_Protection.reg
6. Extract it and Run the file into your registry.
7. Reboot computer.
Note: Make sure you have a good antivirus program before turning off Real-time protection in windows. If the game fail to save the settings after this disable ALL antivirus software.
UPDATE: Windows and third-party anti ransomware programs will block the process: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Apex\r5apex.exe" from saving changes to "C:\Users\Username\Saved Games\Respawn\Apex\local\videoconfig.txt" in your system.
SOLUTION: White List Apex Legends: "r5apex.exe" in Window's Virus & threat protection and third-party anti ransomware programs.
Note* If you see "r5apex.exe" and file name "videoconfig.txt" is in the "Block List"...that's the problem. Simply erase it from the list and add it to the White List.
IF THIS SOLUTION WORKS YOU CAN TURN BACK ON WINDOWS REAL TIME PROTECTION, THIRD PARTY ANTI-VIRUS & RANSOMWARE, AND FIREWALLS.
