I lost my entire PS4 account due to cross progression

I started playing apex on my PS4 in 2019 and since then i've racked up a lot of items (including heirlooms, limited time event cosmetics and early game battle pass skins) on my account. On the ps4, I hit level 498 and I hadn't touched my account since I got my PC, where I downloaded Apex and reached level 113. Ever since the new season dropped, I made my way to link my PS4 account to my Steam Account on EA. Now, logging into my console's Apex leads me to seeing a Bangalore with no skin and no access to my items or my store. With cross progression arriving here, my accounts on the PS4 and PC have linked to be my PC account instead of my PS4 account, which is a much higher level and I have no way of finding my items on my PS4 account. Now, I'm left wondering what to do since EA won't let me email them or chat with customer support. I've dedicated years and money to this game and I just really want to find a way to get all my things back. Any help at all is truly appreciated.

  • Hey @lanaswrld,

This sounds as though you had unlinked your PSN account from its original EA account, and recently linked it to the EA account that had your Steam profile linked.

Progress is stored on the EA account, not individual platforms. When you unlinked your PSN account, that progress was left behind on the EA account.

Progress cannot be merged between two separate EA accounts, so if you're trying to restore your PS4 progress, you would need to re-link that to the original EA account.

Please feel free to check out our FAQ for some additional details on this specific situation: A Quick Guide to Apex Legends Cross Progression - Answer HQ (ea.com)

If you're needing any assistance re-linking the account, you will need to contact support directly.

    Hey @DonkeyTheGod,

It looks like for this account, Apex was launched on PS4 for the first time at the end of last year. It looks like Xbox and Steam accounts were unlinked at the same time.

If you had played before that, your PS4 account would have been linked to a different EA Account.

At that point, it would be best to try checking any other emails or accounts you may have used in the past. If you're not sure or no longer have access to an account, you'll want to contact support directly so they can try to help track it down with any other details you may remember.

  • I did the thing where I had to link my Xbox account back to my original EA account to get my cosmetics back, but nothing changed and it only made things worse. Now I have the chat support people saying that all of my progress is gone and can't be restored just because I tried to follow the instructions of another support agent.

    @NotShakey

Any time you unlink an account, it disrupts the link and can permanently damage your progress. If you relink there's a possibility that will be restored, but it's not a guarantee.

The only way to avoid running into this is to not unlink in the first place which remains our recommendation in the help article and the reason we provide a warning when going through the unlinking process.

Unfortunately if you've re-linked to the original account and still don't have that access, there wouldn't be any other steps available to try.

    Unlinking risks for Apex players

If you unlink a platform account that you use to play Apex Legends, you might have issues with Battle Pass leveling, item unlocks, and other errors.

Instead of unlinking and relinking a platform account you play Apex on, we recommend starting fresh on a new account.

When you unlink a platform account from your EA Account, you can link it to another EA Account, but your in-game progress won’t transfer over.

That means you’ll permanently lose access to:

    • games and game progress
    • DLC, expansions, and anything extra you have for your game
    • memberships and subscriptions
    • in-game purchases.

If you unlink your platform account and link it back to your original EA Account, you may be able to get your stuff back if you still can access the account.

  • @EA_Mako then what about all of the money I spend to get all of the cosmetics I got? Is there anyway to get a refund?

  • I checked the refund page and those options only pertain to game refunds not individual or a bundle of individual refunds made over years. The chat support people said that I would have to contact Xbox. I did that and they don't do those type of refunds either. So what now? I feel that I should be granted a refund for such a broken cross progression system.
