Incredibly unstable ping on native server

Hello, for 5 months now, myself and many other players in Japan who I have seen on twitch are suffering from very poor server connection, some games we will have our normal 12-30 ping connection, but 1 out of 5 games if not more we will have a constant connection of 120+ ping through out the entire match. In order for me to have a stable connection to my own native server (Tokyo) I have to use a VPN. When I have the VPN on I will never have the 120+ ping games occur. However I don’t believe it’s acceptable for us to have to pay a monthly subscription to a third party company in order to have a regular connection.

on top of all of this. The amount of games where packet loss is present is insane. I have even gone as far as having my ISP come and test my connection as I thought maybe the issue was on my end, there was nothing wrong with my connection. At one point every game was constantly 7-8+ packet loss but when I changed to an ipv6 connection the games that I was receiving packet loss greatly decreased however the problem still remains not just for me, but for a ton of us here in Japan playing Apex Legends.

what can be done to help solve this persisting issue?

thank you.

@papawolf4 I’m hoping to find out, that’s why I’m desperately reaching out for help on this forum.
  • I'm having the same problem (Singapore), I think quite a lot of people who play in Singapore server also have the same problem.

Rumor I heard is that because they can't find people (that are matching to your skills level or there isn't enough people in general) so that you're being sent somewhere to fill the lobby up to reduce the que time. But then again you say using VPN always gives you normal ping, then either is something wrong with their server, or they're changing something in their match making algorithm, I dunno (btw what's your Kill / death ratio?)

  • Bump, still have not received any help on this issue or even acknowledgment from any EA staff. The state of packet loss is unbearable. Desperate for help here.
