Is there a way to "block" certain friends in your steam friend list.

Is there a way to "block" certain friends in your steam friend list from seeing what you are playing.

When I want to play with my mate, he is shown to me as online, even though he is in the lobby. I asked a different mate to add him on steam to see if he has the same issue, but to him he is shown as "playing" and in the lobby when he is playing apex.

Thanks for the help

  • JunkJunk_Dog Sounds like an issue with Steam itself, as you can only show your "currently playing" game to everyone, to just friends, or to no one:

My Profile Options: Public | Friends Only | Private
Game Details Options: Friends Only | Private

Its also possible that your friend had removed you from their Steam friends list, as you wouldn't be able to see what they're playing if their privacy setting is set to "friends only" under "game details".

Since the issue is with Steam, if you need to contact support, you would need to go through Steam's Support.

    Ok thanks
I get it. What if I still have him in my friends list, but he does not have me, would I still be able to see the friend as online? Because I still do.
Or would he disappear from my friends list?

    Thx for the help.

I tried contacting the support, but I was not able to find the proper channel.
Do you know by any chance the right way to navigate the support page?

    thx again for your help

Are you meaning your Steam's friends list or the friends list that shows up in-game?

Hmm... I've looked at it myself, and I didn't see a way to contact Steam about issues involving the Steam's friends list, but I did find this support page: Steam Support :: Steam Friends List.

Both, as my steam friends list is linked to my friends list in apex. I see him as "online", but if he had me removed, would I still see him as "online". Or would he be removed from my friends list if he removed me from his?

Sorry, I cant explain it any better.

And thanks for the link to the steam page.

JunkJunk_Dog The way that it should work when playing the game, is that both player's friends lists would update whenever one adds and/or removes each other as a friend.

However I do know that the in-game Steam link functionality is a bit buggy, (where it doesn't always update like it should):

I've had the issue where I was seeing players that I was no longer friends with on Steam showing up on my Apex friends list. To resolve the issue, I had to unlink my Steam Account from within the game, (not from my EA Account itself).

However, after I had unlinked my Steam Account from within the game, I had found out that I wasn't able to relink it from within the game for some reason, (so it might just be a bugged friends list).
