Linux - Your Account has been disabled

Hello,

Creating this thread to basically gather information and to see if this only affects me or not. I've complained in other threads and on X, but figured I should actually make something productive instead. I would guess that the amount of players using Linux is small, but I'm hoping at least someone can collaborate this and get some attention on it.

29/Aug/24 8:01 PM UTC I got an Account Ban on my account. I'm playing Apex Legends through Steam, using Arch Linux with default Proton version and NVIDIA 560 drivers (and X11, not Wayland). While I can't prove to anyone else that I don't cheat, I can at least swear that I have not cheated.

KimKat98 created a reddit thread about a similar issue on linux_gaming ( PSA: Using Proton Experimental (or, at least bleeding-edge) on games with anti-cheat can get you banned (in Apex Legends) : r/linux_gaming (reddit.com) )

And ofc, the ban disputes only gives an generic answer that they have made the correct choice, even though they will not specify why they banned me.

Respawn community manager RSPN_Thieamy asked Linux users who got banned on Reddit to send their user id's so they could investigate here.

Maybe you can send your user id and if investigation goes well they can fix this issue and unban your account.

My ban was just Overturned! Thanks to RSPN_Thieamy for letting the devs know about the problem.

@Palanor Thanks for this reply! I can see it in the same state now! In Spanish but overturned

But now what's next? Do I really have to abandon Linux? This is kinda scary, the game simply runs better in Linux and more stable

heres the newest reply saying they will ignore my future tickets and the refuse to overturn their decision.
i just want EA to acknowledge there is at least the possibility there is an issue on their side.

Mine has still not been overturned. Did you email them specifically asking for it to be overturned after sending RSPN_Thieamy your ID or did they just email you? Wondering if I should submit another ticket or not.

Edit: Nevermind, I checked my account status and it has, in fact, been overturned, probably largely thanks to this thread. But I did not get an email stating this at all - I had to go check my account ban history. Extremely unprofessional. But I am glad there is at least progress being made here.

Yeah I did not get an email either. Had to check my status myself.
EA really need to fire the ToS team or change their procedures.
@Vilthran I did let Thieamy know. Check attached screenshot. Hopefully it will get sorted soon.

I received the bug ban months ago . Despite appealing, my request was rejected. I had been playing on the account since day one for over 4 years I have more than 36k kills, thousands of dollar invested for heirloom.

Please see my attachment, I’m posting this again to have the Team look at it. my account been disabled since then and I have not been able to play

My account was hacked and my email was changed.... now, after probably a year of not even having the game downloaded I try and play and it says my account has been disabled? So can I just never play apex on my ps5 now or?!

LILMEXI1117 Sadly, banned accounts cannot be handled on the forums as that can only be handled by the EA TOS Team.

If you are needing help with recovering your hacked EA Account, you would need to contact EA Support.

Lastly, Apex doesn't support systems running the Linux OS.
