Linux players getting banned
Edit: Looks like they fixed the issue causing the bans. Edit 2: EA is reversing bans and sending out emails letting you know. Yay! Hello, I believe myself and a few others got banned for just playi...
@Tutur85140man I was reading the topic and yes their answer is beyond stupidity.
Count on me to never ever put a cent in this game anymore, and I will tell my friends to do the same. What's the point to grind levels, pay for battle pass and other things, just to see you banned for "cheating", just because you play on a SUPPORTED operating system and it's name is not Windows....
I started playing this game not just because the game is good, but mainly because it was fully supported on Linux as advertised by Steam. With Apex being my primary game, I was able to remove the last windows instance I had on my desktop (primarily used for gaming). The next game I hope supports Linux one day is Tarkov. On Linux, I am getting 144 frames in Apex (max my screen can support), in windows it was hardly 60–70 frames. And I was so happy, boy did I spend a bunch of money and time in this game trying to learn and enjoy the game. Hell, I have been forcing my squad to install Apex and give it a try.
I was expecting this game to be consistent like CSGO, where you can confidently spend money and expect the items you purchase to live for decades.
Boy, I was wrong. I still have hope but looking at the response from other people in this thread, it isn't looking good. I really hope they get this situation right.
If they can't fix it, I think I'll open a ticket with Steam, they have been great when it comes to support and that is why I spend my time and money on Steam and don't trust other platforms. I recommend other people here also do the same. Now if it is Steam that is allowing EA to advertise full Linux compatibility and not acting when people get banned for using Linux, it is also Steam's fault ..... not a good look for Steam Deck which I absolutely love.
It is just sad that people are not educated about Linux enough and a big player base for Apex is still using Windows, the sniffs every packet that goes through their system and is slow. Apex Linux users seem to be tech geeks. I am pretty sure none of the popular Apex players like Aceu even know about Linux. So this problem will never get limelight. What do we have like 60-70 people here who got affected by this who actually came here and decided to share it, not sure EA is even going to care about us?
Where does Respawn fall on this ... don't they have responsibility to address this?
Another thing, looks like there are good community leaders here, is there a way to tag them in this thread, so they get to know the issue, maybe they can help Linux community out.
On a positive note, since I couldn't play Apex yesterday (the day I keep for gaming), I built Ansible playbook and automate installation and configuration of all the pieces of software I use on my Linux machine. That was a good use of time.
