PS5 Ranked consistently routes South American players to US servers (160–170 ms)

Hello EA/Respawn Support,

I am experiencing a persistent server routing and matchmaking issue in Apex Legends Ranked on PlayStation 5.

Location: Mendoza, Argentina
Platform: PlayStation 5
ISP: Movistar Fiber, 600 Mbps
Connection: Wired Ethernet
NAT Type: Type 2
Cross-play: Enabled
Selected Data Center: sa-east-1

On the Data Center screen, sa-east-1 shows approximately 49 ms ping and 0% packet loss. In regular Play Apex matches, my in-game latency remains stable at approximately 50–60 ms.

However, every Ranked match runs at approximately 150–170 ms. This happens when I play solo and when I play with my friend, who also uses a PS5 and has a good internet connection. It also happens during South American peak hours, so this is not limited to periods of low player population.

The attached Ranked screenshot shows:

  • 166 ms ping
  • 0/0 packet loss
  • 0/0 packet choke
  • Stable 60 FPS
  • Server ID visible in the performance display

The Ranked latency closely matches the ping displayed for us-central-1 and us-east-1 in the Data Center list, while sa-east-1 remains at 49 ms. This strongly suggests that Ranked matchmaking is consistently overriding our selected South American Data Center and assigning us to US servers.

This has been happening consistently for a long time and is not an isolated match, temporary outage, local network problem, or party-leader issue. Regular Play Apex matches continue to use the South American region normally.

Please investigate Ranked matchmaking and regional server assignment for South American PS5 players. Please also confirm whether regional auto-merging is forcing sa-east-1 players onto US servers, and consider implementing a reasonable maximum-latency limit or an option to remain on the selected region.

Attachments:

  1. Data Center screen showing sa-east-1 at 49 ms with 0% packet loss.
  2. Ranked performance display showing 166 ms, 0 packet loss, 0 choke, and the server ID.
