r5apex.exe.local redirection causes the game to close upon easy Anticheat closes

As usual the game are supposed to run flawlessly everytime I run the Apex Legends. Strangly and suddenly the game never opens up and immediately open the Origin after the easy Anti-cheat closed. As I searched on other topics before it said that this issue caused by hardware problems and the problem is the game ran perfectly before without any technical errors. Then I reopen the game in Apex directories and what I've found is that upon the easy Anti-cheat completes the process, there is a file named "r5apex.exe.local" with 0 Kb appeared and then vanish once the Origin opens.

According to https://www.easy.ac/en-us/support/apexlegends/issues/errors/ is that:

"This error is triggered if the game folder has a DotLocal (.local) redirecting file for the game executable. Removing it will fix this."

And by what means "removing it" as the file appear and disappear for a few seconds and deleting won't work because other program uses the whole folder/directories. Is there any way to prevent .local redirection as I can't find the procedure on the Google.

Thank you.

Hey! I've had this problem too recently. The "problematic file" that's causing this is "r5apex.exe.local", under Origin Games/Apex. When you try to delete it, Windows complains that it's "corrupted", even though it's 0 bytes in size.

How I've fixed this without reinstalling:
    • Have Origin completely closed
    • Enable hidden files in the Explorer: File -> Change folder and search options -> View tab -> Hidden files and folders -> Select "Show hidden files, folders, and drives"
    • Locate your Apex Legends folder:
     - if on the same disk as Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Apex
     - if on a separate disk: disk:\Origin Games\Apex
    • Make a folder somewhere else, and remember its location. I made a folder in my Desktop and called it "ApexCopy".
    • In the main Origin Games\Apex folder, select everything EXCEPT "r5apex.exe.local" (Ctrl + A, then Ctrl + Click on the .local file), then move the files over to "ApexCopy"
    • Delete the empty Origin Games\Apex folder completely
    • Make a new "Apex" folder inside Origin Games
    • Move every file from ApexCopy inside the "Apex" folder you just made

    • You can now play!

    • Optionally try repairing the game if it doesn't work first try
  • heyyy.... its 2023, I tried everything, do you find any way to solve this problem? I also face the same thing as you, still stuck
