Re: Apex Legends keeps crashing my pc when launched

@Ryan_Rockstar000 Apex crashing your whole PC is different than the report we were seeing and a bit interesting. Is this happening after the update released today about midday?

Can you go through the following question and respond?

- Are you currently trying to play it on Steam or Origin?
- Do you have any other programs or overlays running? (any other anti-cheats as well)
- Do you have any security software (Anti-virus, firewall) running?
- Can you share a DxDaig? (http://bit.ly/GatherSystemInfo)

  • Sorry for late reply and wrong problem topic asked, currently how I've been using my PC i have these background apps running in my tray- Windows Security, ICUE, Steam, Discord, Steel Series engine 3, Radeon Software, Blizzard battle.net, Riot Vanguard and Origin

    For the overlays i have

    Discord off

    Radeon off

    Origin off

Then when i had the game on steam i had the steam overlay on and it crashed no matter what when it was on or off, so i reinstalled it on Origin to try and play it and i get the same issue where the game crashes right after skipping the cut scene and then clicking on login in the game crashes my whole computer everything goes black and my PC does a quick restart and has to relaunch everything :/

For the firewall i gave full access to Apex and other games that use the same anti cheat to see if that would fix it but it didn't the game i fixed that been crashing was HALO, but unfortunately Apex and Dead By Daylight crashes are exactly the same.

Also i don't use any cheats or mods for the game as much as i feel dumb saying but i'm not using any 3rd party software to modify the game but i want to make that clear.

And thank you for the reply ๐Ÿ™‚

@Ryan_Rockstar000i really dont like vanguard, i dont want it to be active all the time and disabling it from startup then the game doesnt launch.. anyways there are errors in your dxdiag on origin.exe..

there have been alot of reports of icue software causing bsod etc.. i would suggest removing the software and restart pc to check if it does improve..

other than that try the cmd prompt as admin and enter:
    sfc /scannow
    restart pc

also i dont understand why your graphics card appears twice in the dxdiag.. try use DDu uninstall in windows safe mode and uninstall the amd compeletely, restart pc and install latest amd gpu driver

@Ryan_Rockstar000 Some great suggestions above, from here please differently close/quite out of vanguard then try to launch apex on either Origin or Steam, which you currently have it installed under. The two anti-cheats (vanguard and easy) don't play well with one another and we have seen similar reports when both get ran at once.

Let us know if you continue having issues after going through everything.
  • @EA_Illium Thank you as well i will see if turning off vanguard will prevent the problems i will report on here if it works thanks ๐Ÿ™‚
  • Sorry for the late reply, sadly I have no good news and it tends to not get any better. I've done all things stated from above and nothing has changed I even went as far as to see if I've been having issues with CPU and tested it on cinabench and nothing came up wrong all cores were even and solid, I'm going to test my GPU and see if that's the issue.

Games have I've been having a hard time with is Apex, Dead by daylight, Fortnite, GTA4, and now paladins.

I am unsure as to what is causing this because GTA4 and Paladins use a different type of cheat software (well I'm not sure about gta4)

one time I decided to download Paladins just to play some games I haven't played in a while. after that, on day one of redownload, it worked perfectly fine, and now I can't even launch the game just like all the other games stated. Every time I start these games my pc blackouts and crashes and reboots, sometimes on Origin or Steam the game would end up missing or say it's not installed so I have to find the game for it and verify the game files again.

My CPU temps stay at 85 Max under heavy load like cinabench, so I'm sure CPU heat isn't a problem I will try to test my GPU after this update.

so according to user benchmark I'm unsure about these results, I have never seen anything like this before on my old pc and unsure how to move forward as it seems it is not recognizing my GPU

@Ryan_Rockstar000 Can you try simple resitting the GPU (physically removing and re-slotting it into your motherboard) and see if it will recognize it? If not can you try reinstalling its drivers?
  • @EA_Illium I have tried this, also with a different GPU I installed a Nivida GPU and it crashed instantly I've also tested this on paladins and I got the same effect where it crashed my whole PC again. also while putting my OG GPU in it wasn't seen by user benchmark but 3d Mark saw it and tested it

@Ryan_Rockstar000 iโ€™ve also had an issue where iโ€™m able to open the game (super choppy - unplayable) without any crashes, but if i reset my hosts file within Windows, my game runs fine and connects to a match fine - then after about 5 mins my pc hangs. not sure why and it happens every single time. i have tested the issue more than 10 times.
  • @EA_Illium Sorry for a very late reply, but I have figured out what the problem turned out it was the motherboard drivers the Asus rog Strix 550 had a problem with its own software for updates. As I took it to a pc repair shop they fixed the problem for me it has been a while since then I forgot the exact problem or how they did it. I believe they might have flashed the bios and redid everything for all the drivers and it runs perfectly as it can get. and the only issues I get are common connecting studders from time to time in competitive but that's because of server connections stuff. In conclusion, reinstall everything as a last resort to fix pc, this fix also help fixed my other games from crashing as I've stated in the past, and again sorry for a late reply school was a priority for a while thank you guys so much for the help ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hey,

Funny enough I have a similar setup and similar issue. My b550 Strix and ryzen 7 5800x crash at apex boot up every time. All other games work fine. When it boots down, it would indicate a red light on the motherboard saying it was a CPU issue. Just bought a new H100i elite cooler thinking that would help the cpu but it still has the issue.

I have swapped out my GPUs to see if that was the issue and even reinstalled it all on a separate SSD.

If you have any more details about the bios and driver update/reset, please let me know! Thanks

  • I'm thinking that it has to be the motherboard because we all have the same issue and I have a similar situation with my PC and our builds are relatively the same. Same motherboard and CPU especially.

I have a b550 rog strix-f gaming, 5900x cpu and this issue has now appeared but for some reason apex worked fine like a day ago... Is formating and reinstalling everything the only option left or was there something else?

As this thread is a bit old at this point, we are going to lock this down so that we can prevent any necro-posting. If you run into any further issues please create a new thread so that we can begin tracking accordingly!

Try using the EA APP to install Apex. Origin is no longer a thing in regards to Apex.

In a new thread let me know if that solves your issue.
