Gotcha, thanks! If it's only happening when you're playing without headphones I'm wondering if it might be an issue with audio settings. It sounds like the chat audio might be going out on a channel that wouldn't be coming through your TV speakers.

Have you checked your console's audio settings to see if it's set up to match your speaker configuration? If it's putting out audio to channels that don't actually have any speakers to go through that might be why you can't hear certain things.

  • Hi there, I have been having similair audio issues on PS4 and PS5. I have used different audio setups, Astro Mixamp, Steelseries Gamedac, Beyerdynamic MMX 300 headset and a Senheiser HD560S headset.

I posted on twitter about it and was redirected to here. Please click on these links to watch/hear what I am talking about. These audio bugs have been driving me crazy for over a year.

    Hey @zwimpy

If you remove the Mixamp and Gamedac and just run the audio straight from the console to your headset does the same thing still happen?

    /Kent

    1. Hi, yes it does. No matter how I set up my audio the same sound still pops up. These clips are older but the same bug is still present. A subtle screeching sound that keeps popping up every few seconds. I will try and capture it if I can in a gameplay capture. It ussually happens the first or second game. I restart the game but then it comes back a few seconds later. I have my music settings in game turned down to 0, the rest of the sounds are on default settings.

On a sidenote, I have noticed that even with the music on 0 you can still hear it verry subtle in the lobby. Keep in mind that I have been gaming with studio headsets hooked up to amplifers but the sound should not be there.

    @zwimpy

    Got it, thanks!

Have you tried running your audio through standard TV speakers to test and see if you hear the same sounds? I'm really curious if it's only headset audio, or if it comes through the speakers as well.

    /Kent

  • I have been playing on a monitor but sometimes I use the monitor speakers and you can still here it then. It's less clear but still present.

And what I ment with that I could still hear the sound in the lobby is the sound of music. Not the screeching sound. Turning the music down to 0 does not mute it all the way, I wanted to clear that up.

  • Here is a recent clip of a few days ago... it's only a few minutes but the sound is clearly present. Hopefully this will be of use so that you can identify the issue💪.

    Thanks for sharing!

If you don't mind, could you give me some time stamps of where the sound issues are happening in the video? I listened to the video a couple times, but my hearing isn't the greatest, and I don't think I picked up on it.

    /Kent

  • Hi Kent,

Thanks for your reply! The time stamps would be the following:

    1.04
    1.24
    1.27
    1.44
    1.47

I reccomend using headphones as it is a subtle sound but it drives me nuts as soon as it starts happening. Hope this helps👍

    I appreciate that!

I wonder if this might be related to the PS5's 3D audio. Can you try disabling that option to see if you notice any difference with the game audio? If you go to the Audio Output section under the PS5 Sound Settings you should see a toggle there for 3D audio.

Let me know if you hear any difference with 3D audio disabled. Thanks!

    /Kent

  • Thanks for your reply Kent 🙂

But I can already confirm that with 3D audio dissabled it is still present. I already tried this and it was still there. It was also present when I had Apex Legends on my PS4.

Something triggers it in game, I can't hear the sound in the lobby. But as soon as I enter charcter select it can be heard when the bug starts happening. And then the only way to get rid of it is rebooting the game. But this is only a temparary fix, it always comes back for some reason...

    @zwimpy

Got it, thanks for checking that for me! It is definitely weird that it comes and goes like that. You haven't noticed anything else strange happening in-game before it starts up? I'm really curious as to what could be triggering it.

    /Kent

  • Hi Kent,

Honestly nothing else glitches except the sound, this bug has been around for a verry long time now. I think it has something to do with a sound beeing activated by an event triggerd in game.

Everything else works fine, it's just irritating because you can't just leave and reboot the game. I have a feeling it has something to do with an audio que that the game can't load and then just keeps repeating itself every few second's. It's a subtle sound most of the time but because I game with audiofile headset and an amplifier the sound just causes irritation😅

I can understand that. Your suggestion makes a lot of sense. I'll pass this along.

  • Hi Kent,

I have recently uninstalled the game and then downloaded it again. Played in stereo and with 3D audio enabled but the sound came back still. So at this point I have tried everything. Hopefully this is usefull information as well🤞.

I have a question maybe you can pass this on to the right people?

Would it be possible to get a seperate volume setting for the announcers voice. I like having my audio on the louder side of things but it's a verry high tone that the announers voice has. The voices of my own character or of my teammates are less intrusive but the announcer can be to much at times😅👍
