Re: Game Crashes on Loading Startup screen

Still got the same error starting the game. Did a clean boot of my system with only windows-applications and steam running, nothing changed, same problem.

downloaded the game from EA app and it works, only the steam verison is bugged

that seems to work, game is starting now after downloading it with the ea client. Just got another error after intro screen with CSOM_MilesAsync_OpenOrFindFile("audio\ship\general_german.mstr") failed to open file; try resyncing. Running repair now, but that takes ages and read something about starting properties and setting +miles_language english. 

Yeah seems the steam version is buggy atm, the other problem was solved at least (not really, steam still buggy, but there is a workaround), just got another one...
Running repair fixed the last problem with file not found.

Hi, I dont use any of these reWASD etc. but again the steam version doesnt work like before...We had this same issue not so long ago..
If I try with the EA app instead of Steam, the game is running but I'm unable to connect the EA servers like there is something wrong with it as usual? I have high ping also (but I cant connect I just see on the main screen) 

For me EA app runs the game, but I want use Steam every time... so idk whats going on between steam and ea, I lost 3000 apex coins cuz I bought via steam not so long time ago.. since then I didn't bought any and I never saw my coins and money again. but this is a diffenrent story. 

I still don't think the main issue is about Steam or EA launcher.

My friend who still using Windows 10 still can open the game normally.

Same as the issue on 2 weeks ago. My friend can launch the game normally but I cannot.

I have the same issue as the one 2 weeks ago. Instantly crashing after main title/menu, sometimes even before that with black screen and the red Apex Legends logo in the right corner.

For all others: EA App version of Apex Legends seems to work fine for me, at least I can get to the menu/lobby - EDIT: also works in game fine.

NVIDIA Driver version: 560.94 WHQL.

There were no issue prior, and I haven't had crashes in Apex in two-three years - until the most recent patch again.

NOTE: I am using NVIDIA hotkeys application to increase saturation to 75 from 50 (same setting adjustable in NVIDIA settings), could this be the reason? However it was not an issue for two years prior.

My Apex Legends crashes every time I boot up the game via Steam or the EA launcher.

I tried the following:

Update Driver

Update BIOS
Verify the files (Steam and EA)

Reinstalled the game

Repaired Easy Anti Cheat

Nothing works, and I don't get an error, other EA or Easy Anti Cheat games work perfectly fine, like Battlefield and Space Marine 2.

I collected some logs for Easy Anti Cheat if that is going to help.

I can confirm that while "NvidiaHotkeys.exe" which is an application I use to quickly change "digital vibrance" - is causing the crash for me.

When the app is not running, the game starts normally. I would recommend all to check for any such software running at the same time, and kill such processes before starting the Steam version of Apex.

EDIT: I want to emphasize that the issue was not present before, and something has changed in Apex that causes the game to crash now when NvidiaHotkeys.exe is running prior to starting the game.

So disabling DS4Windows worked for me, but now with that being disabled I cannot get my PS4 controller to function properly because it only maps for Xbox controllers.  I have everything I know for my DualShock controller in Steam to only have PlayStation controller layouts enabled and it just keeps reverting back to Xbox which I don't have and don't care to use.  Do you have any recommendations for this? Is there some kind of alternative workaround, because I don't really see why DS4Windows is an unfair advantage when it just helps customize the controller to your playstyle.  Will this be fixed in the next update?

@EA_Mako So i've literally disabled everything but default native windows processes and im still having this issue....

The problem as it seem is, the game just silently crash, black window screen, or etc.

I see official reply said try disable all key mapping app. I have none of them running or installed by myself.

Does Nvidia give it by default for their GPU? I don't know.

What is such those Nvidia process name then? I search from Tasks Manager by "nvidia" word, those process name show nothing related with word "hotkey" or "keymap" or anything.

As for UX/UI design perspective, now the problem is everyone in this thread cannot enter the game, but don't know why because the game doesn't give an informative feedback to the user. Bad UI/UX.

As a software developer, the worst way of coding is, hide error or exception message when it happen.

Now it is like that. The error got hidden, don't provide informative feedback so we know nothing about the error and how to solve it properly.

Please do it in next update.

Or maybe its time for me to play another game.

I just found 1 more interesting information about my issue.

Every time that I attempt to reproduce the issue by startup the Apex, it will cause 1 kernel error that we can see in "Event Viewer" (Windows 11) tools at path

"Event Viewer (Local) > Custom Views > Administrative Events"

Yes it's instantly crashing, the problem is nothing on my computer because the EA App version works fine with none of my apps disabled. So in essence EA * up and is just giving vague answers that aren't actually answers.

Maybe an agenda is for move Steam player to EA launcher? Idk.

This topic also mark as solved (see the browser tab title). ^^! But I still cannot play the game on Steam. Are they going to fix this....

I was also getting the same error.
I was very stressed because the game suddenly crashed and my PC restarted by itself, besides Apex.
It didn't happen on my old PC, but on my latest high-end PC. I tried to fix it by tweaking the power supply and RAM, but it didn't improve, so I left it alone and intel issued a statement.
I am using an ASUS motherboard, and by applying the BIOS update distributed by ASUS just now, Apex now boots normally as well.
Of course, there is no need to change the compatibility mode.

If you are not using intel forget it as unnecessary advice.
