Screen is not set to recommend resolution Bug

I recently upgraded to LGs 27 inch 1440p 240 monitor (Model SKU - 27GR95QE-B). When I launch certain games in full screen mode I get the attached message on my screen telling me that my resolution is not set correctly (Which it is).

Known Games - Apex Legends, Star Wars Jedi - Fallen Order

DX12 (Workaround - Not solution)

I can enable DX12 and run in "Full Screen" mode.  However I believe DX12 runs games in a Window Borderless minus the performance downsides and calls it "Full Screen"

What I've tried:

+ Changing Scaling Behavior in Nvidia Control Panel

+ Tried all combinations you could think of in the .exe -> Properties -> Compatibility section

+ Manually changing the videoconfig.txt settings and enabling Read Only mode

+ Contacted LG support - "Monitor is plug and play" was their response

+ Contacted Gigabyte support - Awaiting Response

Specs

Gigabyte 3080 TI OC

Intel 12900K

  • It is an issue having to do with your monitor and NVIDIA drivers. People with AMD cards and the same monitor will not experience this issue.

You need to download CRU and remove the TV resolutions from your monitor. There is a guide on Reddit to fixing it. Good luck.

  • @FatalBabo Thank you!! I had searched for a tool to remove resolutions and couldn't find one. This is a great workaround and has eliminated the issue for me. I'm currently still working with Gigabyte to see if they can replicate the problem but this is a great alternative to a native fix.
