Same here. CPU usage going to 100% after playing some matches and my computer literally shuts down because of that. Not risking burning my pc parts with this weird bug. Never happened before I could not imagine a single patch would make something so dangerous.
What if someone is unaware of their CPU usage and then their PC components get broken because of this game???
Taking a break until theres an official fix PUBLICLY addressed. Sad.
- 4 years ago@Tidinhah Lmao you can’t fry your components by having them utilized 100%, this isn’t the 90s anymore. Still sucks though, but it won’t break your computer.

@Tidinhah Regardless of the Apex issue, you should look into fixing your CPU cooling. Your PC should NEVER shut down, no matter how hard it is hammered. Consider changing thermal paste, buying new CPU cooler or adding case fans.

@timekillerone It is not shutting down because of CPU temperature but because of the sudden power supply needed for it to go to 100%. CPU cooling stays at 70c playing with 30-35% usage. But I'll look into it, thanks!
Still waiting for Respawn to address the issue.

I somehow got it "fixed" with -numworkerthread 2
But when switching to ranked it gets to 100%
I think this problem was caused when they were trying to fix ranked, because at day 1 of Genesis Update I was playing just fine even ranked mode. They're probably getting some anticheat updates that are causing way higher CPU usage or bugs with some intel CPUs... Sadly they haven't even acknowledged it yet.

Bro i've been getting random PC shutdowns while playing Apex as well. so weird.
My temps are fine too (70s for both CPU and GPU).
I think it may be a PSU issue, just bought a new PSU and seeing it that will fix the issue.
My computer:
RTX 3080 ROG Strix
Ryzen 5900x
32 gigs of ram
Z73 Kraken cpu cooler
850W power supply (old one i swapped out was same specs but it was a thermaltake, new one is seasonic).
I have a 240 htz 1440p monitor i play on and i usually average around 200fps on 1440p.
any thoughts on this?
- 4 years ago@FOB_OmariusPrime I don't think the problem is in your computer, there is clearly a correlation between the date of Genesis update and the high CPU usage.
By the way, random shut downs on a PC can appear if the thermal paste used to dissipate heat from the CPU is not working correctly.- 4 years ago
I see. I'll check my thermal paste. Thank you,
