Suspended for 7 Days because of responding to someone who insulted me

Hi,

I'm pretty new to APEX legends, only ~150 hours (playing mostly solo), and so far I really like the game...

But I also noticed that there are many toxic players who instantly insult you for making 'mistakes' in the game (or play not the way they like).

Yesterday a russian player in my team insulted me, called me a ******, ****** and other things in voice chat (I think for picking up an Item that he wanted).

Normally I don't care much and just ignore them, but yesterday I snapped and started to insult back. He then started to play solo while the 3rd player and I continued to play together.

Now I'm banned for 7 days because of this. I understand that Respawn/EA does not want this type of interaction in their game, but is this normal to get banned for "defending" yourself, without a single warning? That's pretty harsh in my opinion and not fair.

I'm a pretty chill guy and just want to play, I don't start to arguing because they play differently or because they do something that I dislike.

What is going on with this penalty system? I've also read that players get permanently banned after the 7 day period, is that really true?

  • Hey there @robbybbl,

Warnings might be common for certain games, though this might vary per user as cases might be evaluated by different members of the ToS team.

Do note that you were given guidelines to follow, which clearly stated that if you were to break them that it would result in account action.

I've seen some users get permabanned, though then again I do not know the severity of their actions to get that result.

So possibly you've lucked out with a 7 day ban, even for how weird it might sound for the actions you've taken.

I'd recommend to mute players instead of interacting with them for future games, that way you can't get pulled into a situation like that.

I'm personally not aware of users getting their ban extended after 7 days, though it's of course possible.

The reason for that might be that they've been getting too many reports, resulting in a temporary ban, that way an agent can look at the case so the mass-reported user won't do any further damage.

Though if you do feel that this action against your account was incorrect, you can always contact the team to dispute your ban.

You can find more information related to that in this post:
