Unable to Uninstall Apex Legends

I'm having a lot of trouble with this right now. Yesterday I was trying to update apex legends, but once it got to the finalizing stage of the update, it just continued to fail to update. I restarted the update, restarted my computer, nothing was working. It wouldn't even let me uninstall the game, so I went into my origin games folder and attempted to delete the games files there, however I'm unable to move or delete r5apex, as it says the file is open in another program. I've uninstalled and reinstalled origin and still nothing has worked, I can't do anything to the file. Also when I tried to reinstall Apex again, it's now stuck at 40% in the update. Anyone know a fix for any of these issues?

  • Obviously the OP probably already solved this, but for anyone finding this thread later: I had basically the exact same problem, Update messed up and something went wrong, couldn't uninstall, couldn't install; basically the same as in the OP. What worked for me was instead of deleting r5apex (because something kept running it), I moved it to a different location on my hard drive using admin rights. I deleted everything else. Then via Origin launcher I reinstalled the game.

Thanks for sharing so others can see what helped get around the error. 👍

  • that was not helpful AT ALL. all it did was make the computer unstable and an easy target.
