XBOX Cannot do anything in Apex

I can load into the loading screen by myself, or if I am invited to a party I can get into the main screen. However I cannot do anything in the game. It is as if my controller were disconnected but I can use my console specific controls such as screen shots and the home button. I have performed every step on the help forums for the game freezing but I get the same result almost every time, nothing, with the exception once every 4 months where it works but the connection is very bad. My internet is not the issue either as I play other games perfectly fine. Very confused and would like some help.
