Finding it almost impossible to finish a round in any mode as it’s freezing and going back to main Xbox dashboard or shutting the console down altogether.
this is the only game this is happening on
tried what other threads have been saying but nothing working at all
I really want to play and enjoy this game but it’s simply not possible, something need to be looked into this immediately
I cant emphasize my frustration more than others already have. The game seemed somewhat fine during beta and launch, but since the recent updates, the game constantly crashes. Sometimes during loading a match sometimes in the middle of a match. It doesn't matter what game mode, rush, portal 32v32 or 64v64 it crashes. Sometimes it will send me back to xbox home menu and other times it will completely shut off my xbox. This was not happening at first and judging by other forums this has yet to be resolved and doesn't seem like EA has addressed this issue yet. Upsetting, I enjoy the game and try to play it but am always in suspense waiting for it to crash my console. This seems to be an ongoing issue between EA and Microsoft. Microsoft will send us to EA and EA support sends us right back to Microsoft. I have tried all the troubleshooting options presented to me. Uninstaller, reinstall, Uninstall factory reset then reinstall, debug, update, dns. Literally everything suggested still no luck. I have not played a full game without crashing in months. Please EA assist the community with this issue so we can funnel back to the game. I paid 120$ for the pre-order of a game that is unplayable. I'm sure I'm not the only one. That's what we get for paying for something before we realize it's value. Lesson learned I suppose.

@EA_AticWhat a BS answer. Not a single game on my console does this except for a select few. Want to know what they all have in common? Every. Single. One. Is made by EA. How * embarassing.
I've tried every method. Plugging into the wall, resetting my console, checking the power settings, and nothing works. It's not shutting down due to high temps and it's in a well ventilated area as well. 2042 and other EA titles in my library are the ONLY ones that do this. COD plays fine for hours on end, Chivalry 2, Plague Tale, MLB the show, Halo Infinite are all the same. All play flawlessly with no crashes for HOURS. Yet whenever I boot up 2042 and play for 20 minutes, I get a hard crash. I boot up Madden play for 20 minutes, get a hard crash.
Something here * stinks, for real.

This has also been happening to me on my Xbox series X. Only playing Battlefield 2042. The game will just randomly freeze and hard crash me back to the Xbox dashboard. No error codes or messages pop up or anything, no overheating messages my Xbox series X is also well ventilated and this is the only game this happens to me.
This is a Battlefield 2042 problem, there’s nothing wrong with our consoles. Hopefully DICE can figure this out and fix it because the game is unplayable for me and a lot of others right now..
I been having a nightmare with this, very rare been able to complete a round. I tried tonight to drop the console display down to 1080p and I’m now onto 5th game without a crash.
no idea if that’s resolved it but maybe worth a go
Game crashes my xsx too. i can play sometimes 2-3 rounds then all the sudden i find my self on the main xbox dashboard without any error message. It did not happen with season 2 before.

I think it'd be a good idea to forward the thread(s) to technical leads at DICE so they can touch base with MS partners, doesn't seem to be incidental (single user) and rather a problem(multiple users) which warrants investigation. Take some ownership?
Or don't, it's your product.
Not to be cynical, but it's easier to just uninstall and play something else that is reliable in the platform than go through technical support channels.
@EA_Atic As everyone else is stating, it's only a battlefield 2042 issue, so no it's not a "contact microsoft situation" please give us an actual answer for these crashes and not some copy paste message you have written down somewhere. we want to play the game that we paid real money for. it's clearly a your side issue and not a "send your console in for repair" side.
Their solution seems to be to continue to ignore it. I have tried playing this game on 2 separate series Xs in 2 separate locations and both times the console hard crashed within 20-30 of starting up a match. ONLY on this game.
EA should be embarrassed with themselves with how they're handling this, completely unprofessional. You would think after the disastrous launch they would try and patch things up and make the game playable, but instead they double down on being terrible. Not many times I can think of a "AAA" title was literally unplayable for more than 20 minutes one year after launch.
Game crashes since season 3 on XSX. Please look into this issue. no other game crashes on my series x.
- @ArcadeHustle Supposedly the Series X console shutdown crash on BF2042 has been fixed with the latest console update. Not sure if this also means the game itself crashing on Series X has been fixed. I've been through every troubleshooting step and posted multiple times here and on Xbox forums. Been having crashing issues since launch, they never acknowledged them as a company on Xbox, but always cater to PC first. I played BF2042 on both and have hosted modes with thousands of players weekly. I guess it's a blessing and a curse at this point for game pass, the issue is being talked about much more since many more players can try the game out.
Only thing to note in the console update notes on Xbox's end are "System - various stability and performance fixes", which may just be covering for EA's large problem of thousands of players unable to play their games for weeks or months even. I'm running the Xbox Insider beta build so I'll spend a few hours and report back with results on BF2042 stability. Having similar issue with Need For Speed Unbound but I am unable to post to that games bug forum.
How is it going now after the latest xbox update? After a couple matches I have not crashed. However, would be great for EA to acknowledge this officially if they/ or xbox have truly fixed the issue. Maybe add something in patch notes? Or continue pretending the problem never existed...
- @Forcerecon93 It’s still crashes for me just like before.
- @evotiii9090 Same here. Maybe they'll acknowledge it and push a fix some day. Not holding my breath though. Why play a game if we can't play the game?
Our Xbox’s are only shutting down with EA Games. I have zero issues with any other games. It’s literally only your stuff. I’ve tried every single troubleshooting stuff you guys recommend and nothing helps.
- @paul_krajicek My new XSX shutdowns on Division 2 and sometimes Injustice 2. Maybe the problem is on Xbox. Anyway. Hope it gets fixed.
- @EA_Atic Have called xbox about this issue and gone through all test and recommendations and still have the issue. They said it must be an EA issue, no freezing till about season 3 update. Seems as though it's gotten worse since recent update. No issues with any other game but this one.
- @ArcadeHustle Yep I have had the same issue.
Mainly with Starfield sometimes I can play for hours and then sometimes when there’s a lot of action it just dashboards or completely shuts off with the controller light flashing.
Very strange and haven’t found a fix. Thing is xbox tells us what to do to fix the problem and when it still persists they tell us to reach out to the developer because it's a game issue not a xbox issue.

ATTENTION!
I have bad news for all the players getting this problem!ok if you look back at all the comments you will see I had this problem this is my sons account and if you look for “MrBluePlaydoh” account hat is mine so I’m not trolling and I really wanted to get a fix but it’s bad news.
so I bought my son that 2k23 wrestling game and he was away on holiday with his mum so I downloaded it onto his Xbox series x (at my house and the Xbox with this problem) and it started randomly crashing just like this game.
so I rang Microsoft and they said they will fix my Xbox and not charge me even though it’s out of warranty. I changed my mind and didn’t send the Xbox to them and I just bought a new series x.
now the bad news guys, this game and that wrestling game has been working flawlessly so the question now is did Microsoft release a faulty batch of Xboxes? As the one I bought was a early (ish) batch
sorry for the bad news but it isn’t the game

@CartoonCat1562and Xbox Series X players:
I agree—for general information: there has been a bad batch of Xbox Series X consoles, where the console (even though new) will shut down suddenly. Some games are fine; others you'll be able to play for some 5 mins until it happens. It started already in 2020 upon launch.
Contact Microsoft when this is the case.
It is not EA's fault if your console is suffering from this when you play '2042'. - CartoonCat15622 years agoRising Traveler
I didn’t want to admit it was my Xbox but when I bought my boy his series x for when he is with his mum at his house and he played this game with zero issues it started making me wander if it was his Xbox he has at mine, now I bought a new one it confirms microsoft had a bad batch and they are not admitting it!
